He can recruit better in Florida and if he wins a lot the next few years he is going to be a HOT name for a major program.

I think he shot too low. He could be a good hire for Tennessee or another more consequential & established program. USF is fourth tit in Florida colleges and 7th tit if you count the presteige of the Buc, Dolfins, and Jags --- i.e. 7th best football job in Florida.

4th tit in Florida still means you have more talent to choose from in your surrounding area than Tennessee does in the entire state. Not saying that USF is a better job, but it should be easier to win at. You are in the Big East, and you have the most fertile recruiting bed of anyone in your conference. Plus it is a team that has won the last few years. 1 or 2 really good seasons and they could challenge for 2nd fiddle in the state.

Tennessee has a much tougher road to winning every year than USF does. Heck, Tennessee plays more tough games in 1 year than USF does in 2 years.

Holtz made a great career choice. He is in a hotbed for recruiting. He can flat out get the best out of his talent and he will be able to get better talent at UCF than E Carolina. He is setting himself up for being a coach at one of the elite college programs when a vacancy occurs in the future.

Great move for Skip. If he can take the rather ridiculous talent at USF (compared to the rest of the Big East) and correct their inevitable late season swoon getting them into the BCS.. he'll be the hot name for the next major opening.
