One playoff win is not very good, but it would be idiotic to fire Smith with the success he has had. Who would you replace him with?

Go after Gruden. He said he wouldnt mind coaching there or Oakland. I dont know how much truth is into that.

If they dont lose 4 starters they are probably in the playoff hunt. Mike Smith can go 0-16 next year and still have a job.

Mike Smith is the Rodney Dangerfield of NFL coaches.
Before the season began, I read an article that ranked all the NFL coaches. I can't remember what publication exactly...Sporting News, ESPN, one of the major ones. Anyway, #1 was Belichick, Payton was #3, and Mike Smith was like #28. There were only a couple guys ranked lower.

Well considering he came to that organization when it was in shambles following the Mike Vick ordeal and the Bobby Petrino fiasco and was able to turn it around in one season, that's a pretty dumb ranking.

Smith offers stability. Something the Falcons have never had. We need a defense and an O-Line, though.

No way. Kept the 'coons in tact at the end of a lost season and got them ready to play (and almost beat) 2 legit playoff teams.
