Short term loss; long term gain

This is bad for both USC and UT. It pretty much solidifies UT as a second tier program

There is no way to avoid being hurt short term. They are already a bit shorthanded, they are losing their best two players (Berry and Hardesty) to the draft, they have no QBs, and the majority of their top recruits for this year are about to head west or elsewhere. This close to signing day, they are screwed no matter who they hire. Muschamp is their only real hope of salvaging this class.

This move will set them back at least one more year, maybe two. Remember, with the new cap on signings, they won't be able to oversign next year, even if they have the room. I'm sure the new head coaching candidates will be taking this into account.
