only negative about him
I dont see how him being in the box is a negative. To me it doesn't matter where they are as long as they call the defense successfully.

Sounds like the guy we want to me.
Hope he brings an end to our search.

So you thinking Phillips is back in play? He looked really good in that AS game.

Like salt and pepper says we need to "Push It" through and hire Shoop...

I don't know if it's morning wood, but it's solid.

Les Miles has never "fired" a coach. To me that is one of his faults....too nice of a guy. Any coaches that have left in the past was to take a coaching position elsewhere.

to hire a coordinator and not allow him to bring even one guy with him is ludicrous

Gotta take care of your friends, you know?

I read the PSU 247 site /thread on Shoop last night.
they are very worried about LSU stealing him because of the money gap.
They said he is making around 400k maybe 500k with incentives...
When they realized that Chavis was making 1.3 and left for 1.7, they were getting pretty ticked the SEC is throwing around that much money for coordinators.
when you stop and think about it, it has gotten out of hand.
then they were arguing over which program was better.
Bottom line, they love Shoop and don't want to lose him.

Pomansky just said on the radio things are trending toward Shoop being hired.

quote:It definitely has gotten out of hand, but you have to pay to play. It's like with upgrading facilities and so on. You have to spend money to contend and if you're not willing to do that, then eventually you'll have to take a backseat to the programs that are. Sad, but true.

question for the board: how much does LSU pay him?
750k? 1 million? 1.5?
Posted on 1/7/15 at 7:57 am to monsterballads
If we get him we will prob give him 1-1.3 mill

I don't think we'll go over what Chief was set to make. I'd say he'll get close with incentives. I don't think his base salary will be what Chief's would have been, though.
Eta: Still would be double what his salary is now and that'd be hard for anyone to pass up. Not to mention if he's successful here, the opportunities for advancement will come quickly.

Chavis was great for LSU, Shoop is about the only candidate that we are looking at that has the potential to be an upgrade IMO.

considering how things were looking a few days ago (trending towards brick or steele) this is definitely a good thing.
what i like most about shoop is he seems to get a lot from less talented players. can't wait to see what he can do with our bluechippers.
now just bring in bebe to coach lbs or dls and i'll be thrilled.

Besides base pay and incentives, I'm sure top topic would be assistants. Raymond staying is probably a no-brainer for Shoop unless he has a real stud DB coach he is adamant about. The LB coach position is his to fill. Question is then the DL.
Hopefully, it is fully his call on brick. I could see where getting a recruiting ninja who knows the area and can coach DL would be a plus. If only this board could find someone to suggest.
