How much of the shine is off his star at this point?

Do you still feel he is the best choice for LSU?

I don't want O. This trend has me starting to panic. I think jimbo and Herman are tied at 1. Chip is below that.

if O gets the job he will have earned it. i don't think alleva makes the hire unless he absolutely has no choice.

still a herman fan. still a jimbo fan. but i am starting to get a hard on for these chip kelly rumors.

I was never fully on the Herman bandwagon. I would feel more comfortable with someone with more of a track record.

I love chip, like Herman and like O not a fan of fisher but if gets the job will root for him. I've seen enough of a turn around under O after tonight to be completely fine with keeping him and you know he recruits. It's amazing how much better the offense looks right now. It's almost as if they are setting things up I know that's a crazy idea but seems to be working

Jimbo should have been and should still be #1.

Houston losing games has zero impact on my view of Herman.

I like the idea of it, but not sure if it would play out well for him here. The offense would be fun to watch, but he isn't a great recruiter and has little interest in the defensive side of the ball. Seems like a fun idea, but bad in practice...to me that is.

I'm liking fleck a lot and still haven't lost all my faith in herman or jimbo. They're both still at the top of my list at this point in the season.

Serious question: what makes you prefer O over the other two?

If Herman were to come here, he would eventually pull a Saban and bolt for the NFL. Let him go elsewhere. Not that sure that Fisher is a reality. Kelly might be interesting. However, if Coach O runs the table except for Alabama and hangs close, giving the circumstances he has earned the chance to be our head coach. Moreover, he would not bolt for another school or the NFL.

No. Maybe we can get the SMU coach.

I kinda feel that way also, young he is a Mensa society member so he is smart as heck. Just don't think HC at LSU is his last stop or his destination/dream job.

I don't know something tells me if he were successful he would be out of here in 3 to 4 years.

Just to make this clear we would be hiring a coach with an overall HC record (counting his interim stints) of 21-28. You would take that over Jimbo's 73-16 or Herman's 19-3?

Herman is 2 wins away from beating orgerons record (21-28) assuming the circumstances you stated above. As it currently stands Herman has 1 more win than coach o does. I know it's not the same conference, and Herman had an easier schedule. He still beat several good teams.

So i still don't get why coach o would deserve it over those guys.

It seems the SS Herman ship is taking on a bit of water.

You realize of he can't beat Bama with this team at tiger stadium, hell probably never beat them.

This is our best shot for a few years. Don't let him off the hook for that so easily. It will be a sign of the future.

I'm realistic with the coaching prospects. I never expected any of them to go undefeated or have a huge year then come to LSU (that's just unrealistic).

Herman and Jimbo are my top 2 still. I also wouldn't mind if they interviewed Fleck.

And if O is the coach he would have earned it. It's just hard to imagine him as a championship coach bc his previous track record never projects to that.

With Money coming into the equation and it will and perception of spending what ever it takes to get Herman from Texas assuming Strong is fired will be the problem.

Right now the job is Coach O's if LSU continues to win and Aranda staying is huge. LSU can get coach O for a reasonable amount and have room to get Aranda a very big raise. Hiring either Jimbo or Herman will take big dollars.

I wouldn't say that, Coach O already said they didn't change the offense how they wanted because it was too late but added a few wrinkles here and there. With an entire offseason he can implement the old USC offense he loves. If its close with Bama and he wins out imo the job is his.
