1. He's available with a comparatively lower contract than he'd get at LSU.

2. LSU AD is obsessed with him.

3. He wants the LSU job.

I'd be shocked if it wasn't Napier.

I think he's the fallback option if they miss on the big targets.

Riley should be the absolute first shot. We wouldn't be "settling" by hiring Napier at all, but there are definitely a few others we should be moving on first.

Three possible long term scenarios to the Napier Conundrum.

1). LSU hires him and he is great and wins a natty and maybe more. Positions himself to be the winningest coach in program history

2). LSU hires him and he is marginal at best. The move doesnt pan out and he gives LSU 5 good but not great years

3). LSU passes because he isn’t a jaw dropping hire. He goes to Bama to replace Saban, wins 5 nattys of his own and every die hard LSU fan collectively walk into the ocean together in the worlds largest suicide pact

Or he's mediocre at Bama and gets fired.

Or he leaves for the NFL.

Everyone saying "Bama wants him to replace Saban" forgets how god awful Bama was at hiring coaches before Saban fell into their laps.
