The salaries being offered in today's world are entirely ridiculous. Jimbo Fisher offered 10 year/ $75 million deal at TA&M? Where will this crazy stuff end? No coach is worth that kind of money - not even Nick Saban who reportedly earns $11.5+ at Alabama. I know football is a huge business but when will this crazy salary escalation end?

Basically Alabama & TAMU have "Win National Titles or get out" contracts.

What's a better value:

Spending $9 million a year for a proven, championship caliber coach

or

Spending $100 on facilities for a middling, unproven coach who'll probably be fired in a few years.

It's all about supply and demand . The economy is doing good right now too so the booster likely have a little extra cash .

The ease of students ability to borrow money to attend college and the increase in the cost to attend college has driven these coaches salaries through the roof. It’s very similar to the housing bubble that burst in 2009-20010. There is more college debt than their is mortgage debt. Colleges are just reaping the benefits.
