I don't think you have to be a heartless mercenary to seriously consider a $100 million offer. In fact, i think you'd have to be a total moron not to at least seriously think about that kind of offer.

Okay, here's me as Saban seriously considering the offer:

I'm happy here. I make more money than all the people in my hometown combined. If my dad could see me now... They built me a statue and I'm in contention for the natty every year and have won 3 out of the last 4.

What will Texas really give me besides $2.5 million more per year? I'll have to salvage another program (like I've already done twice before) at the college level. Been there, done that. Yawn. All new set of politics to deal with. I'm settled here. I'm a fricking legend. Texas is desperate and I am not. I'll just let Sexton use them for a little pay bump and call it a day.

Now if the right NFL job comes along, I'll listen. I do sometimes wonder what could have been with the right owner and GM. Or maybe I could be the GM. There's some mountains I haven't climbed in the NFL. In college, I've been to Everest. More money is just more money.

Was that serious enough for you?

They shouldn't but I'm just leaving the door open.

If Saban wins 4 more titles, that might do it.

He needs to start smoking Chesterfields and drinking Dickel though.

I wish UT would go without a HC next year just so this board and the Saban to Texas talk could roll on.

Heck, UT could hire a coach and that narrative still wouldn't go away on this board. The narrative Doc and others would come up with is that Saban told Texas to go ahead and hire another coach for a year to "take the heat off of him" so he and Terry can gut out one more wretched year in jail/Tuscaloosa so that he can work out a new exit strategy and take over at Texas next year. That's only if LSU isn't available which is where he and Terry above all else want to get back to. After all, it's common knowledge that he and Terry want to retire to the petrochemical choked air of Baton Rouge.

Talked to a few people about Texas job today. Expect it to be a slow process, with the hire coming after Jan. 1.

Nonsense

If saban doesn't go to Texas then he doesn't go and that's it. Things change all the time.

But the door is still open and him agreeing to stay at bama in December while the UT job is still open doesn't mean much.

BTW, I was on board with Saban leaving for Texas this time last week and had him at 70/30 going vs staying. I've flipped those same numbers this week. In other words, I'd still give it a good 30% of happening the way you say and him leaving which means it isn't out of the question. I don't think y'all are crazy for speculating because it isn't totally out of the question. It's the dogged determination to convince everyone that the Sabans are miserable in Tuscaloosa and that they'd be totally justified and off the hook for lying to Alabama and Alabama fans by taking $10 million a year from Texas and going back on everything they said that I find funny. The turnaround in perspective on what is acceptable and what is not from the Miami/Alabama situation to this potential move is a remarkable act of ethical gymnastics on the part of LSU fans here.

I don't know and I'm not claiming to know if the Hootie decommit is associated with the Sabana rumors, but it will no doubt add to the smoke.

You have any concept of how much money $2.5 million is? And then we're talking per year

I really would see that as a positive, not a negative. It would further cement his legacy as GOAT if he did it at 3 major programs. And Texas has every resource to make that revival an easy one (seemingly)

More than I'll make in the next 15 years combined and my income allows me to live far better than I deserve. No lake house in my future though.

Saban will make that much in the next 4 months.

How many lake houses do you think he needs or wants?

Sometimes more money is just more money.

Because I'm sure his legacy as greatest college coach of all time is what keeps him up at night.

Seems more likely he'd want to the scratch the NFL itch again rather than take as many major college programs as possible to the natty.

Sorry to interrupt the Coaching Changes Board official talking point session.

And he clearly enjoys this challenge, vice maintaining a program (particularly one with the highest expectations).

"Why do BAMA fans continue to come to the defense of this entire story".

One reason only...they know of his past history of commitment lies. Do I think he will leave? I don't really care, he isn't coaching LSU.....anymore....he gone.
