Just to keep it straight...the dad Pat Collins coached NLU to a national championship. He was the alleged wife beater. His son, Mike, was let go at ULM b/c of DWIs. He was the one that coached at LSU and was allegedly contacted by Saban.

Pat Collins had some issues after beating his eventual ex-wife up for fricking the team bus driver. He resigned. However, he was the one who won the 1-AA NC, in spite of one of the more controversial ref calls. The game was played in a fairly small in-door stadium in Idaho. The team attempted a field goal which bounced off of the ceiling yet still went through the cross bars. The ref disallowed it. NLU won anyway in a high scoring affair with Marshall.

Mike Collins had some legal issues as well in terms of alcohol. He did run through a house. Yes, NLU/ULM put the screws to him. Yes, his attorney blamed it on narcolepsy.

Mike was also let go at Northwestern for doing student's work. So...... good coach. Saban may be trying to line up a DC to replace Muschamp. He is on everybody's list. Agent must be Jimmy, too.

But the guy is a good coach. He led ULM (Northeast LA Univ. at the time) to a Div. 1-AA championship as HC.

Mike is a friend of mine and he is a great guy and a good coach. He was one of my coaches in high school.
