With everything going on, just wanted to remind the board of a few things

Russ is 33. Has more experience than Joe Brady. Russ was OC for Samford for 3 years and had some dynamic offenses (top 10 in NCAA). He also served as an analyst at Bama.

Also - I find it very interesting and something that most people don’t know. Russ went to Oconee County HS. Same high school as Mett and Max.

With all that being said, I’d like to see him get at least promoted to PGC. Would like to hear everyone else’s thoughts

I would love it if he was announced as our OC tomorrow.

Not to dismiss Russ in anyway, but we gotta stop using Joe Brady as the measuring stick for these dudes back grounds. He’s a huge outlier. The qualifier of “more experience than Joe Brady” doesn’t mean much of anything

You can say that for almost every coach out there, it’s not a reason to hire a guy

With that being said I’m down for Russ Callaway.

All I meant by saying that was that we didn’t really know what we had in Brady until we saw it on the field

Joe Bradybis not the measuring stick, but certainly the mold. You went a guy who understands matchups /personnel. You want a guy who is creative in the way that he dictates to the defense the matchup he wants. You want a guys who can also call the right play on 3rd down or in the red zone. Lastly , you wants guy who still understands that the run game /ability to impose your will in the run game is important at certain times. Brady had all of this is just the correct amount. If anything , he lacked in his ability to understand that the run game is still important. Watching Carolina this year, it’s the one area that has really hurt them. It’s possible that his Oline and RB talent contributed to it. It seemed, however, that he gave up on he run a little too often.

Promote Russ and get rid of linehan. I’m ok with Ensminger sticking around and letting him leave in the next year or so.

Remove Bo and add a competent DC. No way we can survive another season with Bo. If he sticks around for some reason he and O will both be gone next year because the fan base isn’t putting up with that disastrous defense again

I’m good with Russ.

I just don’t want any more grandparents in charge of playcalling.

I think the Calloway/Johnson relationship is huge.

Hell for all we know Johnson could be the reason Callaway got offered a job at LSU?

Not sure how deep that relationship goes

This could go the other way too

Max may only be at LSU because Russ is too

Who knows what the actual truth is there though

Max committed to LSU 2 years before Russ was at LSU and that’s 2 years before anyone had even heard the name Russ Callaway

Russ was hired this February and Johnson committed 2 years ago. But hell, Callaway having a great connection with his players is a great sign. I want that dude coaching at LSU.

I want someone that can get our receivers back catching the ball like Brady was able to do. Too many drops this year.

Me too. If he’s promoted, it’s because Ensminger says he’s ready. He may not be the best play caller, but he knows talent. He recommended Brady. If he says Callaway is the guy, then get it done.

I wouldn't be too disappointed with Callaway being PGC under E for a year. As long as it’s more of a Brady arrangement where Russ is steering the play calls and the game plans and E is sprinkling in some wisdom where needed.

The bottom line is this- Russ is overqualified to be an analyst much longer. If we don’t give him an on-field position soon, someone else will.

How about promote Russ to OC and Ensminger stays on as QB coach?
