a guy who played 10 years in the NFL is not going to take arse chewings from little Nicky Saban

Saban hires guys who need him. Leonhard doesn't need Saban.

He's probably going to go to the NFL and not have to spend time recruiting anymore

I do wonder about this. I think he’s a “good” recruiter from the perspective of the fact that he has NFL experience and he relates to and deals with the player’s extremely well but I don’t how much he was required to beat the street.

I think his defense could really excel where the primary recruiters can get him better talent. Everyone seems to love playing for him.

Nate Oats is a Wisconsin native, and seems to do fine in Alabama.

Expectations and recruiting at Wisconsin are night and day compared to SEC ball. Especially if you’re working for Saban. We’ve seen Leonhard turn down LSU DC and April turn didn’t Auburn DC with Harsin. Those guys would be a badger lifers if they could

Jimmy is a well-respected throughout the NFL. If he were to move, I'd imagine that's probably the league his wife gives the green light.

And the NFL isn't 365 days a year like college with the recruiting and shite. Family is important to him so the time off compared to college would be a big draw.

I'll be surprised if he goes to another college to coach.

I bet coaches never get bored with staying at one place for a long time and there are more things to do out there. I can see someone like Iowa State HC. He doesn't want to go anywhere and is happy where he is at right now. But he better starts winning again or else he will be out of a job next year.

Was about to post the same. Dude was unhireable until he spent a couple years under Saban. He rehabilitated his image and got some help. Then had great success as OC and landed another high profile HC job. That wouldn't have happened without Saban
