I think it is amazing that Smart has not been mentioned for more jobs.

I hope they hire him so we can't. I may be wrong but I see him as a 8-4/9-3 coach in the SEC.

His name has been brought up a lot. Everybody knows that's Saban's Defense. Kevin Steele was DC, went to Clemson and flopped. Sunseri went to UT and flopped. They might be nervous about pulling that trigger.

Smart puts in the gameplans with Saban. He does have imput. Yes, the schemes are Saban's, but Smart knows them by now. Sunseri had no talent to work with and it showed.

He needs to be a DC somewhere else to be a true commodity as a HC. see Muschamp

Honestly, I think Strong is probably the best candidate out there. He puts a huge emphasis on recruiting FL, which at AU, he would be able to do with some success. He also does what all great college coaches do, and that is surround yourself with great assistants. He makes good hires. I think he could do really good things at AU. He is the last person I wanted to see at UTn.

Champ's D's have been solid everywhere. UF knew what they were getting defensively. IMO Smart has put in the time and knows the scheme by now. Situationally calling the D would be the only question mark.
