Probably doesn't want to be head coach anymore. He did the same with New Mexico when he became DC at SDSU.
Also, the fanbase has been vocal about him making moves at the OC position, and it has to frustrate him that we are unsatisfied with the offense, especially since we can't pay him as much as he is worth for him to fire friends.

He's also 69 years old. He might not have the fire needed to be HC anymore.
