Riley's defenses at Oklahoma are terrible. How would he fare in the SEC?

I know he's a popular pick for many here, but it appears his focus as head coach is about 5% on defense. That's fine in the Big 12 but flag football isn't played in the SEC.

What am I missing?

Keep Jones or hire another DC.

He will have LSU talent

You get rid of the Grinch and hire a competent DC

He'd have to hire an elite DC and let him coach.

With a budget for assistants like LSU would give him, it doesn’t matter. He’ll pay too dollar for a top flight DC.

Oklahoma isn't Georgia Southern. Why hasn't he done that in Norman?

Would have no problem with that. Defense has put us in position to have won the last two games.

If he hasn't already done that, why would he do it all of a sudden?

We think he'd say, "oh man I'm going to LSU, I better get a good DC?" So in that case is he doing it because of some sort of pressure, as opposed to it being the best thing for his team? That decision-making rationale is interesting.

Or maybe like most coaches, he thinks the way he's currently doing things is the best way.

Because in the Big 12 no one cares about defense. The SEC is a different matter. Surely, Riley knows this.

Not only pay him $12.5 Million on a 10 year contract but give him up to $3-4 Million for his DC.

You don’t need an elite defense to win in the sec and win a natty
