Instead, Tennessee will shift their focus to a pair of coaches from a non-BcS automatic qualifying conference -- TCU's Gary Patterson and Air Force's Troy Calhoun. Both of those coaches were under consideration late in 2008 before Kiffin was given the job of replacing Phil Fulmer.

Also under consideration are Duke offensive coordinator -- and former UT assistant -- David Cutcliffe and Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone.

He must love Texas. I think Clemson and Tennessee went after him last year, and I think Auburn did as well and he is still at Texas.

From everything that is said, TCU is shelling out mega bucks for Patterson. I don't know if anyone can get him awy from the TCU alumni dollars.

If by megabucks you mean $2-$2.5 million, then yes.

I want Patterson for LSU when we fire Miles next season. Best case scenario is RR to UT, make it happen.

tons of UT fans including their mod saying it's far from over. HC searches are all over the place, but several are saying it's all but a done deal fwiw.
