The consensus from multiple sources within the Kenan Football Center is that a head coaching change will be made following UNC’s loss to N.C. State on Saturday, ending Larry Fedora's seven-year tenure at the helm.

The Tar Heels' 34-28 overtime loss to the Wolfpack at Kenan Stadium concluded a 2-9 (1-7 ACC) regular season, marking the fewest program wins in a season since 2003. UNC has lost three consecutive games to N.C. State and is 7-13 under Fedora against in-state FBS opponents.

Fedora, 56, is 45-43 (28-28 ACC) in his seven years in Chapel Hill. His 45 wins are the fifth-most in school history. The Tar Heels posted 1-7 ACC records in back-to-back seasons with their lone victories coming against Pat Narduzzi's Pittsburgh Panthers.

Fedora agreed to a seven-year contract extension through 2022 prior to UNC’s ACC Championship Game appearance in 2015 that included a hefty buyout equal to the total amount of his remaining salary and supplemental compensation payments. His current buyout is roughly $12.4 million.

The liquidated damages are due on the last day of each subsequent contract year (Jan. 15) and will be reduced by any compensation received if Fedora takes a new coaching job at the college or pro level or if he works as a commentator for any national sports media outlet.

UNC had a great 2015. Not sure how many times they’ve gone undefeated in the ACC but it can’t be many

With that said, things really fell apart

Anyone who saw what he did at USM could tell you this was coming.

he's a Texan, bet he seriously tries to slide on into the Dallas Cowboys staff and start at the bottom and count his money

Normally I wouldn’t pay Loogs much attention, but he and Mack worked together at ESPN a lot

Football Scoop is also saying that Gene Chizik could be Brown's DC and be the HC in waiting at UNC.
