Reason to stay clear of Riley

-Big games: He chokes… 2019 has to be one of the most embarrassing losses in history. Also, cannot put together the formula to win it all.
-Trap games: OU gets bit by them yearly. This season alone they have almost lost 3 (Tulane, WV, and KSU). Given the talent gap between these schools, he shouldn’t be cutting it this close imo.
-Recruiting: He’s best recruiting class ever was ranked 6th (24/7). His player retention is horrible (worst than us). He’s loses top tier talent yearly.
- Defense: we complain about our defense now, but this guy hasn’t fielded a top tier defense since 2017 (currently ranked 66th).
-Development: 7 players in one draft was his highest ever taken in one year. CEO did that last year alone…
-Future looking: His offense was revolutionary back in 2017, but now it’s not. You have the Kiffin’s, Freezes, Brile’s, Napier’s, and Chadwell’s that can do what he does. I would argue some of these can do it better with the talent he has.
-His teams are soft and not physical.
This is my opinion. I think there are much better coaches out there, and this guy is not the answer for LSU.

We take Riley, we’re mediocre.

He would be ideal at LSU, IMO.
I believe he would have a better defense at LSU. Better overall defensive talent. I recognize he pulls in some top rated guys, but as a whole LSU pulls in more defensive talent. He might finally make a DC change as well.
OU just going to get bounced if they make the playoffs a 4th time.

We won a national championship with Les Miles and Ed Orgeron, and you think Lincoln Riley would make us mediocre. Wow

LSU pulls in talent because of the coaches. If OU has had the success that they’ve had by getting to the playoffs twice, why hasn’t he sealed the deal with top tier defensive players?

If Les Miles and O can win a natty at LSU, Riley is more than capable of doing as well....

O’s assistant coaches:
Joe Brady- NFL OC now
Slinger-Fantastic OC had some of the best offenses in LSU history
Aranda: mastermind and defensive genius. Leading a successful Baylor program now
Miles: Saban’s recruits
Jimbo: Best OC in the country at that time. Runs a decent program at A&M now. Won a national championship at FSU. C’mon man…
Bo: Top 5 defenses yearly during this time here. Took over and had a damn good run at Nebraska.

You're entitled to your opinion but you know what they say about asses right?
Most of the problems you're bitching about above are in relation to OU's recruiting. You're crying about him having a top 10 class when he needs to nationally recruit every year? OU is similar to Tenn in that they don't have enough talent in their own state. This is also why Stoops/Riley could never get over the hump to win there. OU is one of the most consistent programs at winning but they can't win championships because they can't get quite enough talent on defense.
If he was somewhere like here he could get who he wants in Louisiana then cherry pick nationally because he's a good recruiter himself. He's not a defensive minded guy. He needs help there. He just needs to make the right DC hire. LSU has more resources available to help him. OU is a very solid program themselves but they're definitely not on LSU's level resource wise. We have built-in advantages OU can't touch even when they come into the SEC.
You're insane if you think Napier has a comparable offense to Riley. The dude fields elite QBs every year in the NCAA for a reason. And they're pretty damn good in the NFL too so you can't say they're system guys.
Almost everything you complained about comes down to resources and being forced to national recruit.

Waiting to hear reasons why we should. How many of y’all would be bitching watching us be down 7 to Vandy? Because that’s what this is with KU vs OU rn.

Some of your concerns are fair, I think. I'm not sure if he "chokes" in big games, or if they're just not as talented as their opponents in the playoffs.
I discussed the recruiting in the other thread, but will repeat and add to my thoughts here. Oklahoma's in-state recruiting isn't nearly as good as LSU's. In 2022, Louisiana has 15 players in the top 300; Oklahoma has 5. Oklahoma's top 10 recruiting finishes easily turn into top 5 or 3 finishes with Louisiana talent added into the mix.
In 2019, LSU had 12 top 300 players and 8 were from Louisiana compared to 13 top 300 players for OU with 1 from Oklahoma.
In 2020, LSU had 16 top 300 players with 4 from Louisiana. OU had 11 with 0 from Oklahoma.
In 2021, LSU had 17 top 300 players with 7 from Louisiana. OU had 11 with 1 from Oklahoma.
I think it's obvious he would be able to recruit at a very high level at LSU with the recruiting advantages we have.
Can you cite some examples or stats to back this up?
I think these both go back to recruiting as much as anything. With more top 300 players in each class, he'd likely have more draft picks. Similarly, Louisiana is rich with defensive talent. Oklahoma isn't.

Exactly and at some point that has to get old.

Hottakes is going to tell us, on the other hand, “hire Kiffin and just let him get the best DC money can buy”

Jesus Christ you won’t be happy with anyone then.
