Mullen's biggest issue was he didn't recruit. Now you can hire a GM to handle that for you. I think he'd thrive in the new era. He always had State playing above their perceived talent level.

Mullen has proved that he is a second-tier coach. He doesn't have the personality to command a program like Penn State. That being said, I think they should hire Pat Narduzzi. Hes from the Northeast, currently coaches in Pennsylvania and would be a Ciggnetti type of coach like Indiana has.

IF PSU should do it then shouldn't LSU do it?

Poaching Pitt's coach would get extra spicy.

He has that place rocking. He was solid at MSU and Central Michigan. Kentucky has had a tough time recruiting against him.

How? His record at UF was good. 60% conference wins. Competed for 1st in the east every year except his last. Brought MSU up to #1 in the country at one point. You also don't take into account that Mullen wasn't a great recruiter. But you don't have to be anymore. You can get a GM that is and you just close.

So is Mullen. He is actually from PA. Narduzzi would be a solid hire too though.

Penn state spent all that money to fire James Franklin it would be hard to see them going after Dan Mullen unless their other options shut them down
