You had to figure we would have cleaned out the offensive staff anyway. But it still sucks to lose Porter.

He is a great recruiter. I have a feeling the entire offensive staff is gone.

But is now. My point....now I think we see a lot of turnover on the offensive staff. Not that I have a problem with some of that....

Clean house or suffer more of the same.

The evidence is clear.

This is the most likely scenario.

I know he may be a good recruiter but how good of a coach is he. Have any RB's gotten better under his watch? Have the fumbling problems been corrected? Has the blitz pickup gotten better? I'm going to get shot for this but we may be better off with a new face and approach.

A great coach, as evidenced by his potential movement from position coach to HC.

Without a doubt

Absolutely, although I don't know that LSU ever had "fumbling problems"

have you not watched LSU football? LSU's RBs have been very solid. This is a huge loss to Miles' staff. Best recruiter BY FAR and a big reason LSU has some of the talent it does.

it dont matter how good your running backs are unless you have steven jackson with a shitty oline. if only we had a coach who is a supposed oline guru...

I believe the fact that he went to Memphis and is a good recruiter has more to do w/ it than his actual coaching expericence.

just a good person all the way around. last year at fan day, he exchanged phone #'s with the mom of a handicapped kid so he could sit in for a practice and get to meet the players. great guy to have as a coach.

Really? Did you see the holes they had to run through until this year? How did they do when it was up to them to create? A Rb coach focuses on the little things, blitz pickup, ball handling, and footwork. You can't coach vision and running ability. KW had all the potential in the world but couldn't block or hold on to the ball for his life. I hear Ridley has ball-handling problems.

I realize he is a good recruiter but who says the next guy will be better or worse?

Just because he gets a head coaching job a Memphis doesn't mean he is an awesome coach. Many "experts" were questioning him even being in contention for the job with no coordinator experience. Would he be in consideration for the position it Memphis wasn't his Alma Mater.
