It's a cliche, but even outside of recruiting, changing a culture of a program is a hard thing to do, that's he did that. Call his techniques lame all you want, but he got kids to believe they were a real program and eventually they faked it until they made it. People underestimate the hell out of what he did at WMU

Im not underestimating what he did at WMU I am just skeptical about how well that will work at a Texas, LSU, Bama or USC?
Look at Shaka Smart at Texas or Billy G at Kentucky. What made Cal great at Memphis and UMASS would make anyone great anywhere. What has Fleck done at WMU that won't make him Shaka Smart 2.0 or Keno Davis 2.0 ?

He flipped 6 commits from WMU to Minnesota today. I'm sure that will go over well in Kalamazoo.
No more rowing the boat. WMU held a press conference:
“Yes, we(WMU) do own the licensing regarding Row the Boat, that was part of the discussion and commitment when he first came to the university. Those discussions were definitely with his agent, himself and also our university attorneys and our staff as to how we came about doing that and what we would do.”

You gotta give me some CFB comparisons if you want to make that argument
College Basketball is 90 percent recruiting and 10 percent coaching

He's probably got 10000 phrases and things like RTB in his arsenal and I doubt he was planning on using RTB anywhere but WMU

That's what some members of the team tried to do but she got all mad.
Nice. Gang rape is hilarious.

Dan Hawkins, Charlie Strong , Daryl Hazel, Bret Bieliema ( not small school but can't duplicate the culture and wins), Al Golden, Randy Edsall.
Golden looked like a home run for Miami because he was the first to win at Temple.I can assure you Fleck would have trouble being elite while chilling with uncle Luke.

Frankly, I'm surprised at some of his cheerleaders on this board who are disappointed he took this job. It's like they're afraid he'll fail.
Don't know that I qualify as a cheerleader, but I think he's a damn good coach.
I thought he could find himself a better landing spot, but I grew to become ok with Minnesota. If he's as good as I think he is, he will thrive there and have his choice of jobs in 2-3 years.
Then everyone that needs a coach is going to be kicking themselves that they didn't have the stones to grab him when there wasn't a lot of competition for his services.

Correct. Given the turmoil there it is a curious choice because it does not give him the best chance to suceed. I actually thought they would go with a more established name for that reason --- less of a football hire than an internal stability hire. Hope it works out for Fleck.

that speech is intended to influence current players not to transfer out of shame for the past HC/climate.

Cuz he speaks coherent English as opposed to Coach O, who sounds like he has marbles in his mouth.
