What, after all, is his reputation based on?

Taking Louisville to a dominant position in CONFERENCE-USA.

Right?

What big wins did he have there other than one upset of Florida State?

And all you need is one or two really super players to win in that league... like a Brian Brohm, who grew up in Louisville.

Petrino has proved little, in my opinion, at least when it comes to competing in a major conference--and I don't see anything about his performance in Atlanta that proves anything either.

I think he may be the most overhyped hire in recent SEC history......

While you have many good points, you guys settled for Houston Dale Nutt. You may be right about Petrino, but he sure is an upgrade over Nutt.

Enjoy the leftovers....

j/k -- in all seriousness, it just wasn't going to work with Nutt... and be glad for that, bc you got an upgrade as well

I don't know if he really is an upgrade over Nutt. I know Nutt was an upgrade over Coach O. Nutt did a good job at Arkansas and I hate that LSU has to continue to face him every year.

Answer: Houston Nutt

Question: What SEC coach who went from Arkansas to Ole Miss will be fired after 3 seasons?

He will be on his name and offense alone. We'll see but I think he'll at least be able to recruit the skill players that Nutt never could because he was so committed to the run.

Will people shut up about this. Petrino will do a great job at Arky. Maybe not this year or the next, but when he gets his players and they bite into his system, he will be a force in the SEC.

I love seeing guys from AR-Kansas and Ole Piss argue about who has a better coach. "Our guy will get us to number 3 is the west...no he won't our guy will". Way to keep the hope alive!

based on what? he was a force in CUSA and the big east with louisville but he never even dominated those conferences with superior talent. now he will be at a school with an inherent recruiting disadvantage yet we should all just assume he's going to be a force? think for yourself, don't listen to everything the media tells you

Petrino is a thug without integrity and is a downgrade from Nutt. I'm thrilled with Petrino at ARK instead of Mike Leach who would have brought a completely differt look to the SEC.

I would not go so far as to say he will do great. What do you consider great? If it's competing for the SEC title every couple or few years, then they fired a "great" coach.

The only problem i had with Houston Nutt was he couldn't win the SEC Title. Had he done that, he would still be the coach and they would still be singing his praises.

I just don't see Petrino becoming a "force" B/c of ARK's talent level, they will compete every few years for the SEC crown, but not every year. I do believe that Petrino will finally get them a SEC championship. I'm just not seeing a NC.

Then i think he is off in 4 years. I just think it's in his blood. He's a mover and shaker. he's always gotta be going somewhere else. Look at his pattern of behavior.

Don't forget the biggest win in Lewisville history. A BCS bowl win over Wake Forrest in the Orange.

Petrino signed an average of seven players out of Florida each year at Louisville.

If he does the same at Arkansas and can pull some Louisiana/Texas talent along with the best in state players...

His reputation is mud, and his charisma is zero. He will pull second tier players from Louisiana, TX, and Florida like Coach Zero at Ole Miss. Should have hired Mike Leach.

I'm sure everyone was saying the same thing about Meyer when he took over at UF.

I love reading all this crap dribble from Loosiana fans....LOL

They speak of other teams and coaches as if they've been sitting atop the college powerhouse polls forever.

Bask in the pleasure of being good while it lasts coonasses.

But remember where you came from. It should be easy....what..just a few seasons ago a top 3 in the West for Loosiana was a dream.
