They are "known" where they were. In fayetteville they are "unknowns". Who says Shannon couldn't lay an egg here.

I am certainly happy with who we got and not giving Nix the chance BTW

I'm not disagreeing, but I don't think Nix is a terrible coach. I'm glad we went a different direction, but I wouldn't be shocked if Nix turns up somewhere else and does well.

We all know that coaching under Nutt is a curse

Ok so i read this article on OSU's defense and how it has evolved over time. I think this dude is a perfect fit for what we are trying to do.

LINK
I think the combination of what his schemes bring and the ability to teach people to play the ball in the air will make this dude a heck of a DC.

This is the glaring need on our D and has been the last couple years. Our D back play is waaaayyyy too soft. Our D line will be pretty good next year, linebackers should be ok with Highsmith and Rassner. DB is the big question mark

We need a couple of the younger LB's to step up and give us some depth of course. I think the kid from AZ that redshirted will be good

Per Coach Petrino, Kevin Peoples is the new DT coach, which is a great hire might I add for people that don't follow stAte. Bobby Allen is moving to the DB's with Haynes.

ETA: Caldwell is the new ST Coordinator.

ETA: nvm you already answered while I was typing.

He will still be coaching DE's. John L. was ST's and OLB's coach.

So hogs, after having some time to think about it, how are you feeling about the hire?

Good. We needed a change. He'll be completely different than Willy. We were ranked near the very bottom of the SEC on D this year.

Good hire for Arkansas , young guy who will recruit well. He will be a total 360 from WR.

So he keeps it going the same way. Right?

Let me guess, Petrino's best defense since he's been there...

Well, let me axe you sumpin. Could it be much worse?

I think Haynes is a good hire. We'll see over the next 2-3 years though.

The staff was lacking soul and I think Haynes has that.
