Past HC hires that were LSU's true #1 target

Not really thinking back to the old days because back then I just watched LSU football and didn't care who was coaching.
So was saban and Les the last HCs hired that were LSU's top candidates.
We know Ed was the top candidate and he was just the fallback plan, and I don't think BK was the #1 either.... although Woodward said that repeatedly.

Wasn't Glen Mason the top candidate when we hired Saban?

I don't think Les was our top candidate in 2005. Weren't Petrino, Spurrier, Del Rio and others in the mix?
We were a year off of winning a national championship and were a very attractive opening at the time. Somehow we ended up with Les, which worked out for a while...until it didn't.

Eddie O was the top candidate in Alleva’s “search”

I thought Pat Sullivan was the #1 then. Maybe that was the Dinardo hire.

I've heard stories about a Coach accepting the job and then declining the job when Jimbo was to remain on staff. But no one will say who the Coach was still unsure how truthful it was

At least now, i would turn down a lot of money to NOT be on a staff with Jimbo. That dude is nuts.

Petrino
Gave the worst interview in history, according to everything that was made “public”.

Neither Saban or Miles were the #1 target.
