yup - just like weiss, tressell, and Paul Johnson

Agreed! Love it when all the flute and piccolo players start rating coaches. Like they would know never having played for any of them.
They are legends in their own minds and tights.

I do not understand the fascination with this guy. He's seems sleazy, greasy. Like a used-car salesman or a sweaty southern Baptist preacher.

Since you played for all of them, tell us how they stack up.

So what you are saying is that all AD's should just pick names out of a hat. After all ND's AD didn't play for any of the potential coaches there so he can't decide which is better.

Over. He's going to succeed there, as he has done at every other place he's coached. If he could win with Cincy's talent (3 10 win seasons at a school with only 1 prior 10 win season in the school's history), why not at ND where he'll get better players? Also ND's schedules haven't been overly tough lately (as they were in the 80s and 90s).

Weiss had a top-10 total offense this yr., like Kelly. he also had, like Kelly, a top-10 passing O.

scoring offense? that's a different story.

And how good was Cincy when he took over??

And how good were they while he was there?

That wasn't a coincidence you know, lol.

Plus ND plays an easier schedule than Cincy.

Wayyy over.

Who knows how well he'll do, but it certainly will take some time. Even with a great offense this year, the defense couldn't stop anyone. That will take some time to fix cuz there doesn't appear to be a lot of defensive talent. Additionally, with Clausen and Tate leaving who knows how the offense will do next year breaking in a new QB.

Regardless, I was not impressed with the way he left Cincy. Seemed very selfish and classless to me.
