if chavis comes in an experienced db coach is also a must

so maybe its good news. I don't know

this sucks

i dont like it either, but getting oregeron makes it bearable.

i was really excited about walker, oregeron, and willis.

if chavis comes, is there any chance we get willis?

chavis, oregeron and willis would be good.

Most likely Miles is going with him because hes the "safest" pick, with little extra work for our players to learn the new scheme. Its similar to what we already ran. Not of fan of this guy at all myself. I'd take anyone over him. I'm telling you, if I was a Vol fan I'd be wanting this guy out all the time. I think he was a great coach at one point but the game has evolved past him...

Yea, he was #6 D this year. Hes not a terrible coach but hes not that special either, though I admit hes a great LB coach. I've watched his defenses over the years and I'd have to say he lost his touch, especially the past few years. This was his first great defensive team in awhile. Hes old, his scheme is old, its soft and the game is starting to evolve past him, hes had fits against the spread, something we will see a lot of. Upgrade but we can do better, IMO.

What worries me about Chavis is his lack of consistency of his defenses lately. I don't buy it was because of talent at Tenn, they've been a great program before this year, hell they were in the SEC championship game last year and their defense was HORRIBLE.

We will see

Many in coaching circles seem to think Chavis is top shelf

if i were you guys i wouldn't be too happy about getting chavis, he will drive you crazy on third down and he won't make adjustments (2nd half of the TN UCLA game), without eric berry our D this year would have been average at best.
