Yes, but he interviewed for and was offered several other jobs. He supposedly accepted the Tennessee job and then drove by Boone-Pickens and had a change of heart.

UTSA beat Tulane 48-26. UNT beat UTSA 55-17
I wouldn't use one game as a metric.
