Ok so we know now that Riley and LSU was never a thing & Kelly was in the works for weeks

- Riley told SVP he spoke to no other schools before USC
- ND AD said he was not surprised as he thought Kelly was entertaining something else for weeks
- Riley and Kelly share the same agent, Trace Armstrong
To me this just says that LSU let Armstrong use us as leverage for a new Riley contract at OU by leaking a bunch of stuff about Riley to LSU.
Then at the 25th hour, USC actually came in to poach him and the offer was outrageous (maybe due to LSU falsely rumored offer?) and he had to take it. They thought they were racing LSU to the finish line for Riley, when in reality we had already agreed to terms with Brian Kelly.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Trace Armstrong just made a frick ton of money and earned every penny.

I’m really starting to think that CCB literally conjured up the entire Riley as a serious candidate thing, and boy what a ride it was

There were legitimate, intentional leaks from agents in this. I think it was orchestrated and the "insiders" were basically used like puppets by Trace Armstrong and LSU.

I agree with all of that, except think Riley to USC has been in the works for as long or longer than Kelly to LSU. Riley wasn't leveraging OU at all, he was leveraging USC.

Either way LSU was never going after Riley but had agreed to work in tandem with Trace Armstrong, who represents both, to help Riley, for our benefit in Brian Kelly negotiations.

I think Woodward reached out and the talks were hammered out in that two week window, which is why he made the move when he did.

But according to this board as of like 5pm yesterday:

But the smoke came from somewhere, not just here. It was leaking on both sides.
I know who Gruss is in real life and saw a text that one of the people he was hearing from was on the OU side. The other insiders were all hearing shite from somewhere. I think it was a strategic "leak" by Armstrong and LSU, knowing it would explode and give Riley leverage.
The only unknown is what we got out of it, but there are endless possibilities there in contract negotiation and we'll probably never know.

Trace Armstrong, or one of his subordinates, posted information here on tCCB under the username "OUFanInPeace". It's obvious now.
I'll give him credit, he does his job very well.
