I believe you. Left wing organizations don't ever hire blacks to the top jobs.

Didnt know that was still going on. What does showing cause actually entail? Does it basically make him impossible to hire?

The school has big penalties levied on them if they hire a coach with a current show cause. It's not impossible to hire a coach with a show cause but it makes them so toxic that no one will touch them with a ten foot stick. This is from Wikipedia.

quote:

Jim Tressel – The former head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Tressel was forced to resign three months before the start of the 2011 season for lying to the NCAA about student athletes receiving tattoos and cash for signed memorabilia. According to the NCAA, he had four chances to tell the truth and failed to do so. For this, he was given a five-year show-cause penalty (until December 19, 2016). If he gets another head coaching job before then, he will have to sit out the first five games of the first regular season of his return, as well as any postseason games (including conference championship games and bowl games).

Damn thats pretty stiff. Basically does make him un-hirable to a big time program like Texas that wants to compete immediately.

Yeah, it's the NCAA's way of black balling a coach. Typically they do this when the coach is lying or covering up when they are investigating them. Similar thing happened to Bruce Pearl at Tennessee. He lied multiple times over a measly secondary violation. Now, nobody on earth will hire him until the show cause is lifted.

obviously guys like Harbaugh, Shaw and Mora Jr will be getting phone calls, but I doubt any of them take it. I'll go with Charlie Strong or James Franklin.

Jim Harbaugh is making about $5 mill a year at San Fran. How much would they be willing to pay to keep him out of Austin? How much would Texas offer to bring him?

This is going to make any candidate think long and hard about taking this job. Mack will want to still control the message.
