Of course you won't fire Saban, but he's gonna be out the back door

Mark Dantonio would be a great fit for the system that is already in place at Alabama other than being a 4-3 vs 3-4.

Transitioning from a 3-4 to a 4-3 is much easier than the other way around.

Top Candidates:
Charlie Strong - Nope
Kirby Smart - 25-30%
Al Golden - nope
James Franklin - 5%
Dabo Swinney - possible
Mike Gundy - nope
Lane Kiffin - seriously?
Jack Del Rio - not likely, but greater than 1%
Jon Gruden (haha)

Poster suggestions:
Jimbo Fisher - First call they'll make. 30%+
Gus Malzhan - not sure if serious
Bobby Petrino - no chance
Mark Dantonio - no chance
Jim Mora Jr - less than 10%
Les Miles - no chance
Bill Belichick - no chance

I think if Saban goes the next Bama coach is likely:
Jimbo - 30%
Smart - 25%
Dabo - 20%
Wildcard - 15%
Franklin - 5%
NFL with Bama ties - 5%

Just my opinion, though.

People are crazy if they think Jimbo is leaving a prestigious university in the state he's spent a great portion of his life in. FSU is tradition rich itself.

Charlie Strong would worry me the most coming back to the SEC with the foundation that Saban has built.

Why no chance on Dantonio? From which end?

It's just his opinion.

His arse.

Dantonio would be a good hire for them.
No matter who they get to replace Saban, it will be a step back (at least in terms of resume).

Jim Mcelwain has done an excellent job at CSU. I would rather have him than Smart. Wouldn't be shocked to see us hire him.

Oh and Saban isn't going anywhere.

Lulz.

If I doubled all of your salary and paid off all of your debt, you'd go to Texas too.

Not flaming, but the "right" guy to eventually succeed Saban would be Smart, but he may follow him to Texas, to be his successor and at the same time not have the weight of his legacy to defend. Bear's legacy burdened too many of his successors. Not until the dark Shula days could a guy come in and make his own mark.

My money is Bama would hire a BIG name, not necessarily the right guy.

Gruden is my guess.

Kirby Smart

They won't have a whole lot of time to go through hiring process.

Well if they claim to have UT money at bama, they should be able to buy anyone.

It might be helpful to look at coaching salaries to see if there are any on the list that would be willing to jump due to the raise.
