I'm going to conduct a poll to determine the current leader board. It will be purely opinion and fan based.
If you want to be a part of the poll please email me at chris (at) inngasport dottie do dottie org.
Include a name, log in name, and a phone number, and something about yourself or your interest in being a participant.
TIA

A guy that intrigues me is Scott Linehan. He was a disaster as a HC but so were Saban, Petrino, Spurrier and Carroll. He has solid college experience and coached under JLS on three different occasions. He's been in he pros however since '02 though so he may not want to get back in he college game.
He's definitely a great offensive mind. He had some great offenses at Minnesota and has taken Detroit from the #26 offense when he took over to #5 this past season. He would fit that mold of aggressive passing pro style offense that we have come to love under Petrino.
If we're going to look at pro guy then he is definitely someone that should get a look.

Thought it was interesting that Long told Matt Turner it would be obvious after the season, what direction we are heading. Sorta sounded like he had his coach (teaser clip of interview airing TH night).
I think it's Saban. He wants to prove he can do it in a state that isn't stacked with blue chippers. Then he will be the undisputed greatest college football coach ever.
(insert future vid of Saban callin the Hogs right here)

Razorbacks project $75.6MM in revenue for 2012-13 budget.
LINK
The new coach will have a nice little pot to work with. They are projecting football profits alone at over $10MM. Some say Arkansas can't lure a Chris Petersen away from Boise St. or a Jon Gruden out of the MNF booth. This is a big time program with dollars to work with. It's a dream situation for a hungry coach that has something to prove.

My Criteria for the Coaching Hire:
1) clean image. No shennanagins. The sluts on the hill make it hard, we've got a history of coaches letting the ego and the easy girls get to them. All of our little towns in state send their cream to Fayetteville and they just go buck wild when they get here.
2) Personality to sell the program, win over mommas and poppas, get national air time and charm the masses, accept the media and use them for the tools they are rather than making them the enemy. This isn't a Broyles - Orville type of thing, but having the CEO savvy and the coaching chops to back it up.
3) Pro Style innovative and leading edge type of approach to the O, the D, the program, the admin, everything. BP gave us a new identity that we must capitalize on. That is the biggest thing we gained from hiring him, a new cut-throat attitude and approach to the game. The style CBP brought plays well into the type of talent our HS' and recruiting bases are putting out. We don't have as deep a well as other programs in other areas of the country, hence the national recruiting scope. The coast to coast recruiting must continue.
4) Eye for talent and efficient evaluation, and the ability to squeeze every last drop of ability out of a player. The practice pace was a sprint compared to most programs, the film sessions, the scheming, the approach, and the commitment to the players, university, fans, and state have to be unwavering.
5) Just as JFB said, a winner. Gotta be a winner, have to have known nothing but winning. All the pieces of the puzzle are there to keep us in the top 10 and keep us gaining ground on the programs that are winning championships.

Aren't we most likely to get a coach from the NFL, though?
I'm pretty sure Jeff Long has hinted that it'll be from the NFL but I'm not sure

Hope so. I was really digging hearing from the Arkansas players that the scouts mostly wanted to talk to them about the day to day preparations BP put the team through.
Can't be anything but a good thing for our guys to come into the league a step ahead and mentally prepared for the challenge of being a professional athlete.

What chance would we have with Panthers OC Rob Chudzinski?

Fitzgerald isn't leaving northwestern. It really is his dream job. He has expressed it numerous times and wants to be a life long coach.

Panthers OC Rob Chudzinski?
Interesting name, haven't heard much on him at all. Will investigate and report back. My first thoughts [going to his wiki page].
Looks like he's an Ohio boy, Catholic school, went to the U. in the mid to late 80's, so there's a Jimmy Johnson and a bad boy swag connection there. Seems he went to Cleveland with Butch Davis and has been in the NFL ever since. Looks like he's known for TE's, to me it's more so he's lucked into having tremendously talented TE's on his team.
He just got bumped to OC w/ the Panthers last season and turned them around, again, lucked into Cam Newton's talents. I think he needs to prove himself as a HC and have some sustained success in the league.
If I were to guess, he'd likely stay in the NFL longterm. He probably had a chance to join Randy Shannon's staff and he stayed in the NFL.
Chudzinski has a Stan Heath feel to me. jmho.

This is the same reason I don't have Mike Gundy as a candidate. I really like the guy, I've had a few chances to talk to him. Mostly peewee basketball, I never once asked him about football.
I do know he's been unhappy with his contract and T. Boone and the AD has slow played him. They did boost him, but I think he'd consider Arkansas if it really came down to it. I don't think our $ boosters would have him though, OSU is notorious for negative recruiting.

Is Gruden a real possibility?
Not Really. You never know though, this search is gonna get crazy and wild. As the season winds down and we see how the team has done and how the other schools coaching issues shake out the rumors will be insane.
I think Gruden could step in and be the face of the franchise per se. I think his connection to TN is much stronger with his wife and her family there. He mentioned they are building a house in TN, so that alone will fuel all sorts of speculation.
I honestly think there'll be no stone unturned, I'm not saying they've meticulously poured over every NFL and DI staff. It may look like a scorched earth policy, but I have a hunch that Long has the list trimmed to a handful of names already that have back channeled info via agents and friends of the program if such and such is serious.
He could make an out of left field hire like a Tressel type guy that has headed up a very successful D2 program like GA Southern, Pittsburg St., NW Missouri St., Grand Lakes St., etc.

I hope Houston Nutt applies for the job just to be a dick.
