You're wrong. He was running HIS defensive scheme.

nope. it was the zone, LB-based D tubs ran

2 of the 3 years he's been at Texas his Defense's have been #3 & #7 in College football in Total defense

and another he was in the 90s or 100s

and has appeared in 2 BCS bowl games and playing for a national title

led by their offense

are all of the sudden a better track record than Muschamp's 2 Conference Championships, 1 National Title & 3 BCS Bowls in 2 different BCS Conference's?

2003 LSU does not count for anything in muschamp's resume

BCS bowls from a big12 school based around offense are surely a resume-builder

quote:

Yeah at 1-AA Youngstown State. Imagine the rioting that would take place in Baton Rouge if some National Championship Head Coach at McNeese or Northwestern was hired at LSU

YSU was a national power in 1AA and tress is a really smart guy. you can't compare him to coaches at MSU or NSU

although i bet if we hired from viator from MSU there wouldn't be a big drop off from miles, as long as we had to hire SEC-level assistants

Oklahoma & Ohio State will always be 2 of the premier jobs in all of college football period no matter what.

they weren't when stoops/tress took over, esp OU

and stop bringing up tressell. he was a proven head coach (albeit at a lower level, which is somewhat irrelevant with their dominace) before getting the OSU job.

the only comparable instances are UGA/OU hiring richt/stoops. richt/stoops were coming from dominant programs at the time and were taking over programs in disarray. UT is coming off of a 5-7 season

Hire a DC away from a team that just finished 5-7.

really? There is reason to be concerned about hiring a DC with no HC experience, but the record for 1 year of his current team, which is only 11 month's removed from playing for the NC is not one of them.

ETA: and the bad year is clearly on the O, the D was ranked 7th in total yards.

OU was down, but it was a sleeping Giant.

How was tOSU not a premier job? They were NC contenders thru out the late 90's, had a bad year and got rid of Les/Mack Cooper

SlowFlow you ever heard of that saying "that guy"? You are "that guy" that no matter what facts and common sense that are presented you will fight it tooth and nail because by God you could never be wrong because you have a know it all attitude. I see the stuff you post and just because you won't acknowledge what is said and spin your answer with something else that is wrong or inaccurate to make your clueless point.

Will Muschamp is one of the top assistant coaches in all of college football and is respected by high school and college coaches across America and people that know far more than you about the game of football hold him in much higher esteem than you do, and their view points trump any vomiting of the mouth you spew on here.

Actually Texas had the #50 defense in college football in 2008

I think Muschamp is a good DC and will likely be a good HC. But to keep saying Texas had the 7th rank overall defense is not completely accurate. UT's defense nationaly ranked as follows:
Total passing 38th
Scoring 51st
Rushing 42nd
And yes in recieving they did rank 7th.
The problem this year was poor tackling, poor field position due to a pathetic offense and obvious internal issues. Muschamp has always said stats are for losers. So, he probably could care less where his defense ranked. I think he has a great opportunity, and although I like him - I hope he fails --at least against LSU.

Ahh hah someone that owns some common sense.

I remember when Saban went 7-6 at Bama his 1st year and on this board the same people that know praise him or used to were saying how he sucked and was overrated.

for a program like uf this is def a meh hire. everyone references ou hiring stoops but that program was in a shithole when they hired him. uf is two years removed from a mnc, so this hiring is very surprising. with that being said timing is everything and no big names were gettable in the middle of this prime recruiting time. uf was forced to take this gamble imo.

Good hire for LSU, Florida will be 8-3 at best under Muschamp. Remember- Ron Zook had alot of fire also.
