whatever. y'all keep your respective heads in the sand, trust the hat and all of that stupidity, and I'll wait for him to demonstrate that he's worth $3.8M a year.

a gross understatement of his responsibilities. To name a few, he helps develop and approve game plans, oversees practices, makes critical game decisions.

you do know josh henson's job on the sidelines is to tell les how many timeouts we have, right?

you should be on a leash.

I agree that he should take heat for the hire and if he was not making a change then I would be concerned. With that said, he has made ONE bad hire and you think he should be on a short leash?? Hopefully you are not held to the same standard at your job, because if you are; I somehow believe you will be scratching your unemployed arse very soon!!

i don't think les is very involved in any gameplanning, and when he does tinker in-game, the results are generally bad (tulane and on this year, AU 2006, etc). now if you want to claim he doesn't tinker, then that eliminates all gameplanning/playcalling

How many NCs does he need to win to be worth his salary?

you won't win many national titles with 2 losses

So, in one breath you say that Miles doesn't have any control over the defense. And, in another, you hold him responsible for 2 losses in which the defense played very poorly.

Well done.

In the history of the world, has there ever been anyone who was less afraid of being judged by his whimsical, idiotic opinions than SFP? I don't think so.

he did hire the coaches who coached the D

that includes 1 horrible coach, mr bradley dale peveto

and our D played fine in our 2 losses in 2006

As I recall, his contract called for him to be paid 3.8M upon the performance of producing a BCSNC title.

So, your wait was over Jan 9th.

You've fallen off point. Go reread the threads. Try to keep up.

What separates Miles from other coaches of top programs is his willingness to hire coaches who have strong egos and ambition. Most head coaches have trouble with this, but Miles has shown he will hire strong coordinators. Both Crowton and Pelini had been head coaches before coming to LSU and came in with their own styles. The biggest mistake with Mallveto was that they tried to "maintain" the previous system. No one can or should subvert their own egos to maintaining the status quo. It's easy to say in retrospect, but what hurt the defense the most this year was the idea that they could keep things the same. I don't think either Peveto or Mallory are anywhere near as good as Pelini, but we probably would have been better off letting one of them put their own stamp on this defense. At least it would have been more cohesive.

I think Miles will make a good hire and this year's debacle will be forgotten. The wheels fell off this year and it got worse instead of better as the season progressed, but the talent is in place and Miles will be wiling to let the new coordinator and coaches make the necessary changes. I mean, if he is willing to bring Orgeron in that just shows that his ego isn't too big to do what's best for the program. I for one am willing to give Miles the benefit of the doubt and look forward to seeing what the new staff can do.

Wouldn't have been enough. Some of us were celebrating the championship last year, while others were still complaining about the first 5 minutes of the game, or worse, the Kentucky and Arkansas games.
