There are great candidates aplenty for the HC job at LSU. And Napier is a good one. However, after O there are a lot of boxes to tick with a new HC. Recruiting (that is the main reason AL is a perennial winner), Defensive minded (mostly O’s demise is B/C of the D), Multiple on offense (things are changing again in college FB), Earn respect (today’s young players think they can skip their way into the big money NFL and don’t get the major odds against it), Be able to smooth out the egos (transfers are going to be a problem and a solution going forward) Willing to stay if successful (this point is the most important B/C rehiring your whole staff every year is never predictable….ask O). IMO the program will suffer if we don’t account for the recruiting deficit that could come when O leaves.

Not sure if you meant this double entendre, but it still cracked me up.

Here's the thing. None of us know who the new coach is going to be. There are a number of coaches who can be successful here and Woodward has a good track record with hiring coaches. So I'm going to sit back and relax and whoever (whomever?) the new coach is will get my full support and I'll be behind him 100% until and unless he doesn't get the job done, even if I'm personally disappointed in the hire. Woodward knows more than you and I put together.. All the nashing of teeth because it might be a coach not on your personal list is a waste of time and energy. Trust SW to get the right man.

LSU shouldn't have to settle for HC's. Alleva got lazy and settled for Orgeron, Skip settled for Miles because he came cheap. Why should LSU have to settle for a Sunbelt coach, who doesn't have next level HC experience? There are other options available.

I don't think SW is going to settle regardless who he hires. He'll get the man he thinks is the best for LSU. Why do we assume that because a coach hasn't won P5 Championships in the past that he won't in the future at LSU. I don't care what conference the next coach comes from as long as he wins.
