If I were a coordinator at LSU, I would leverage the shite out of the administration every year. O's entire tenure is going to be coordinator dependent. Those guys are going to get paid.

Why not? They're clearly petrified of any significant negotiations.

Aranda could probably get more than O is being paid

He's certainly worth more to the program right now.

We'll be paying coordinators 2 million a year and we'll still have a fricking dumbass fricking up the end of games because he doesn't understand game management. Yay?

What coach isn't. Honestly?

Who did Saban have when he won?
Urban?

The only coach I can think of that I have no idea who his coordinators were is Chip and he has 0 championships.

We've been coordinator a dependant for 12 years. What's the big deal now?

No defensive coordinator is holding Saban hostage. Same for offensive coordinators.

How many championships have both Saban and Urban won with how many different coordinators? You don't have that much turnover without having a strong base keeping the central philosophy of the program on course. Orgeron is not that person, and certainly not on the level of Saban and Meyer.

The leverage is "Hey, do you want to be the highest paid coordinator in the country and get to work with a roster full of studs?"

Worked so well for the head coach position.

So some trick of clock management was going to get us in the end zone?

Until other schools start ponying up as much for coordinators, LSUs coordinators will have leverage.

Plenty of leverage as head coaching candidates.

Then they would have that at a lesser price too?

Im not keen on the hire, but it is an unique model. We changed the coaching salary game when we paid saban so much (at the time) to come to LSU. We appear to be doing it again, putting a premium price on the coordinators. Its an interesting discussion to have maybe when emotions arent running so high.

Also, I'm told they are starting some sort of professional football league. Not sure what they're going to call it.

Either this, or we will be a stepping stone for coordinators on their way to HC and replacing coordinators year after year. Or both.
