miles wants to stay in baton rouge - but - money is on the table because they - michigan - offered it too the guy at stanford - who is good - but had not won a nat champ
miles now starts to work LSU - he has to look out for himself and four young children and of course his wife-
the chancellor and president want to work out a deal - but - the state of the university & state financial affairs have them in a corner - they cannot and should not match the offer- but to bring someone else in to coach this team next year - that has a chance to win it all - would be a big time gamble -
miles at the same time has to look out for his family - i think they will work it out - with a small raise and an incentive that if he wins it all next year he will get a big bonus- and give him engough now to keep him satisfied & ehough of an extension to satisfy the miles family- miles does not in any way want to just turn his school down in a way to hurt them

one thing i have told anyone - looking at another job when they like what they are doing - you will have another chance to turn them down - but if you go - you cannot come back!

what alot of people either don't knw or don't realize is that the majority of the money that MIles is paid doesn't come from the university. It comes mostly from TAF so all this bull about the budget cuts has little affect on the amount of money LSU will or can pony up for MIles it's all gt to do with the TAF, and I think that they are prepared to offer him a raise and extension.

Wow, I don't know. I think at 3.8 million, he's looking after them pretty damn good already.
I think at some point, it becomes about ego. $5 million sounds good, but when you're talking about that much money, there isn't much that 5 mill will buy that 3.8 mill won't. Plus, there is the idea of returning to his alma mater as a success, the challenge of rebuilding there, etc.
In short, I'm not wholly convinced that this is all about money.
