1. DAN MULLEN, MISSISSIPPI STATE: Mullen would seem the logical candidate. He spent four years at UF and was part of two national championships, has a working relationship already with athletic director Jeremy Foley and knows the entire support staff in regards to academics, strength and conditioning, etc. Mullen also knows the spread offense and would be instrumental in Florida keeping the commitment of Jeff Driskel, the #1 rated high school quarterback in the country. Positives? Knows the program inside and out. Negatives? Rubs some people the wrong way with a sometimes abrasive personality.

2. CHARLIE STRONG, LOUISVILLE: Strong was Meyer's defensive coordinator for five years and was a vital part of two national championships. He's a powerful closer on the recruiting trail so that would weigh heavily in his favor. Positives? Familiarity and great recruiter who already knows the program inside and out. Negatives? Only one year as a head coach.

3. BOBBY PETRINO, ARKANSAS: This might seem like a shot in the dark, but Petrino was on Florida's very short list when Meyer was chosen as the head coach back in 2005. He has Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl and has rebuilt the recruiting base. Positives? Great offensive mind and recruiter. Negatives? Has a history of walking out on jobs even when he's in the midst of success.

4. KYLE WHITTINGHAM, UTAH: He succeeded Meyer at Utah and has an unbeaten season and a BCS bowl win over Alabama to his credit. He's young, enthusiastic and does a great job of letting his assistant coaches coach. Positives? Great organizer and defensive mind. Negatives? Has spent his whole life in Utah.

5. SKIP HOLTZ, USF: He's got Lou's bloodlines and a track record of success. He knows Mickey Marotti well, runs a similar offense to the one the Gators run already and he's got the kind of personality that would wow the boosters. Positives? Winner wherever he's been and he's a great organizer. Negatives? Hasn't ever coached at a BCS level program.

6. CHIP KELLY, OREGON: This might sound like a longshot, but Kelly was rumored to be THE guy last year when Meyer resigned the first time. He's got Oregon in the national championship game so it's unlikely he would leave now, but stranger things have happened. Positives? Too many to count. Negatives? Not much chance Florida or anyone could outbid Phil Knight.

7. LARRY FEDORA, SOUTHERN MISS: He was the offensive coordinator for two years under Ron Zook. There was nothing wrong with the offense in those days. He's been on the job at USM for three years and taken the Golden Eagles to three bowl games. He's a great recruiter. Negatives? He was part of Zook's staff. Positives? Great offensive mind and one of the best assistant coaches ever to work at UF.

8. KEVIN SUMLIN, HOUSTON: Runs a wide open offense and is considered one of the bright stars on the coaching horizon. He's got a great work ethic and the right kind of personality to charm the boosters and fan base. His negatives are that he's never been a head coach at a BCS elite level program. Positives? Offense would attract top recruits.

9. CHRIS PETERSON, BOISE STATE: He's a west coast guy who has turned down head coaching jobs before, but could he resist if Florida came calling? He can nearly triple the money he's making. His track record of success is phenomenal. A negative is that he's been west coast all his life. Positives? Too many to count.

10. GARY PATTERSON, TCU: Patterson has also turned down jobs before and seems content to stay at TCU, but would he turn down a job offer from Florida where he could win national championships? In his favor is his defensive philosophy and a balanced offensive attack.

11. MIKE BELLOTTI, FORMERLY OF OREGON: He was on the Florida radar five years ago when Meyer was chosen. Stepped up as AD at Oregon and left Chip Kelly in charge, then resigned as AD this year. Wants to coach again. Positives? Great offensive mind and terrific organizer. Negatives? A lot of time on the west coast.

12. BOBBY STOOPS, OKLAHOMA: He's turned down Jeremy Foley twice. Would Foley call a third time? And would he finally say yes? Positives? Too numerous to count. Negatives? It might take a Brinks Truck full of money to get him.
