This is the biggest example of the return of good ole boy politics into LSU football that I have seen.

Saban was breakthrough because he wasn't part of the good ole boy network. Les, as much as I was a detractor, was the same. Those were hires made on their qualifications as coaches not on the way they talked, or who they knew in the state, or which (former) players supported them.

Seeing LSU fans celebrate a return of good ole boy politics into our football is sickening. We should value professionalism and qualifications, not hiring a guy former players and media personalities like.

A Return to the Good Ole Boy days....
This hire is sickening. We all like coach O, just not as our Head Coach. Terrible hire, JA must be fired now. This guy will NEVER have another AD job anywhere in a power 5.....guy is a moron.

Been a "heavy donor" and TAF supporter for years. I'm putting everything on hold until we see what Coach O can deliver in 2017.

Most people that like the Coach O hire thought Steele deserved another chance when Miles hired him and didn't want to fire Steele when he failed because he "didn't have his guys."

I'm 59, have a masters from LSU, my son is a senior there now. I would have preferred Herman (but not at $6mil) I am willing to give O a chance. My is OK with O

Clearly not. More likely millennials who think you should get hired because it's your dream and not because you're qualified.

Nope, wrong again. Those of us old enough to remember LSU promoting Mike Archer to HC and passing up Spurrier are seeing history repeat itself.

I'm a 2nd gen LSU grad/3rd gen season ticket holder, Gdad was an lsu coach. Love me some LSU football.

Surprised at the hire but, wasn't a huge Jimbo fan.

Didn't like that Herman was a kisser and unproven losing to Navy, SMU and Memphis. Not a good value IMO. Just watched his PC and he almost cried so TX was were he wanted to be. He went to grad school there and Mack Brown was there to support him today. y'all he's a TX guy and that's not a compliment.

Never dreamed O would get the job but, not unhappy about it. I teared up during his PC and like his passion. As another poster said he's better than 99% of the other SEC coaches especially the a-hole from FLA. Not sure why we fired Les if this is what we did but, I'm willing to give him a shot based on the passionate responses from the players and cause games were more fun with our offense after Les.

Aleva gets an F in negotiating 101 and patience. Why pull trigger so early it wasn't closing time at Murphys.
