Bad move on their part ... Pinkel sucks.

I'd say bad move on his part. Sell why your coaching stock is high. Learn the lesson of Kirk Ferentz and Jeff Tedford.

Fixed.
Dude, do you know how bad Mizzou football was before he got here? Its taken him a while but he has methodically built Mizzou into a contender and a fun team to watch. Just who do you think Mizzou could get that would be better?

Year 1 - 2001 4-7
Year 2 - 2002 5-7
Year 3 - 2003 8-5
Year 4 - 2004 5-6
Year 5 - 2005 7-5
Year 6 - 2006 8-5
Yeah, great resume. He would have been gone after year 4 at every major college football program in the country (and was this close to being fired by Mizzou!). He can't even win a title with Chase Daniel, that's pretty bad. 2007 and 2008 are as good as it will ever get for Gary Pinkel, and it's still not that great. Georgia and Mizzou are two of the biggest disappointments in college football this year taking preseason expectations for a national title into account.
And all of that has been in one of the shittiest divisions in college football over the entirety of the last 7 years.

Yeah real lousy.
As far as Chase Daniel, he's helped make Daniel (who no one else worth mentioning wanted) and others like Chase Coffman what they are and he's also getting better talent in the door (e.g. Jeremy Maclin) even though he has to recruit against the likes of UT, OU, and Nebraska. He's also been filling the stadium like it has not been filled for a long time prior to his arrival (=$$$). So like I said, just who do you think Mizzou should get that would do a better job?

played nobody all year and lost to the only team they played. cheering for winning the big12 north is like celebrating the ability to jack off

best conference? maybe
best division? hell no

Texas wanted him. they just wanted him late
if RP didn't lie to UT, daniel would be the QB of UT right now

It's the division that they're in. They can't change that and it has nothing to do with whether resigning Pinkel was a good move. Anyway, pre-Pinkel Mizzou teams wouldn't have even won that last year and there was no shame in losing to OU. KU was pretty good and they beat them though. They also beat Illinois, TT, and Arky, none of who were chopped liver.

Which has nothing to do with the fact that Daniel went to Mizzou and has had a great career playing for Pinkel.

doesn't mean it's an accomplishment that should give the coach recognition

KU was pretty good
no they weren't

but it has everything to do with your statement about who wanted him

Nor is winning the division, crappy though it may be, a basis for saying the coach sucks and should not be resigned, which is the point of this thread.

no they weren't
Yeah actually they were. Not great, but good.

He was never Texas's first choice, so that doesn't constitute "wanting" him, except maybe to warm the bench. Colt McCoy was their guy.

no
RP was "their guy"

Actually both were, which further makes the point that Chase Daniel was NOT ever envisioned as a starter by Texas. Chase was "sloppy seconds."

pinkel and mangino are the most overrated coaches in the country. they deserve one another.

You obviously never saw these teams before those guys arrived.
