Well if the rumors of MSC getting involved are true, then the word coming out that it is a whole new ballgame may be true. She was the one that got Ferentz his deal at Iowa I have read.

One other thing, Carr did noone any favors by locking the coordinators into the equation. By doing so he has pretty much disabled any incoming coach from trying to establish his own relational chemistry from the helm. Most coaches have big egos and by what Carr has set up, the incoming HC will have to either reign his in or just bang heads with his Cs till they get some working agreements in place, if possible. This takes some of the energy needed to rebuild the program and puts it in unnecessary places.

I think Engish will find another job if they bring in a new HC soon.

Forget any conspiracy theories. People are way to ready to buy into elaborate, Machavellian conspiracies, when rarely do such theories prove to be true. Can you imagine how difficult it would be to keep such conspiracy quiet? The US government isn't that good. How would two or three or more athletic departments keep such a thing quiet? Seriously.

Can you imagine the fallout in Baton Rouge if Bertman was a participant in such an elaborate coverup. I know he is retiring, but I doubt he would want to retire as the most reviled man in the history of Louisiana.

I can't imagine that Martin is taking a beating in the press and with the Michigan alums to cover up a conspiracy to announce Miles is the UM coach on Jan. 8. He is being roasted by the press in Michigan and the Michigan alums. Carr is being roasted. I doubt Martin would be throwing Carr under the bus by remaining silent. I doubt any AD would allow himself to be painted as inept and a buffoon when he knows that Miles will be coaching at Michigan.

I doubt Miles is so devious, disingenous and corrupt that he would lead the BOS into a trap by signing an extension, saying he planned to be at LSU for many years, etc. If he were to do such a thing, he would absolutely destroy an image of integrity and honesty that he has worked hard to develop and present. He would forever by tainted by such action. I just don't see him doing that.

Compare: When Alabama was engaged in its search, it remained completely silent about contacts with Nick Saban. Nary a peep throughout the process in its dealing with Saban despite the constant rumors and assurances from some in the press that Saban was going to Bama or was in discussions with them.

Martin has denied that he has had discussions with Miles or his agent. His agent has said there have been no discussions other than to tell Martin after the LSU deal was done that Miles was staying at LSU. Miles has said that there have been no contacts with Michigan.

Now, could Michigan contact Miles now or after the NC and try to hire him?? Sure. But I think the train has left the station. Miles' reputation would take a huge hit, because the press would assume, as would virtually everyone else, that the deal had been in the works all along, no matter what the denials. Martin would still look like a complete liar and buffoon. Miles would be vilified by virtually everyone but some Michigan diehards. Bertman would leave his legacy at LSU in shreds.

I doubt seriously that any one of the principals involved are willing to face the fallout from a Miles move to Michigan now. It's over.

I posted this on other thread (thought it was this one that I started). Here is what was posted on our premium by a reliable guy who has proven his connections before.

"The insiders still believe Miles may do a deal with scUM as he wants to go to AA and most of the large donors want Miles. I asked them how Miles would be perceived to renig on LSU and they said he does not care what anyone thinks. They are very unorganized in AA right now."

Sounds as reliable as Herb and all the others. I doubt seriously that Miles doesnt care what his image is. Miles is no fool. I think it's over, and anything else is the kind of whimsy and foolishness that has been descredited time and again.

Naw, lots of older folks on here.

Hey, I resemble that remark.

I have hesitated to say this but I am going to come out and say it. I believe Miles is a man of his word but further I believe he is a man of character, and a true family man.

That being said, I believe he would have a hard time explaining to his son that he lied about his commitment to LSU in signing the contract.

I would say that would have to weigh heavy on his mind especially if he is the man of high character that I think he is.

My opinion.

I hope so. I don't want to see Miles in Michigan despite what other Buckeyes might think. He has the fire that Michigan has lacked as Carr got older. He will turn that place over trying to get it back to the top. I hope he stays at LSU.

You guys see that dream post on Rivals? Guy talking about the MSC thing, and that Carr would retire/leave the football program. Dude said he might not even coach bowl game.

I like a good story...but that one was way out there.

They offered the job to the Rutgers coach and he turned it down.

No way miles plays sloppy seconds, thirds or whatever.

At this point, I think there is zero chance of Miles to Michigan.

Hells yeah. That's why so many in Mich were fired up over his "impending" hire.

He'll be plenty fired up for the NC game though...especially since it's against the Buckeyes.

This article is claiming it was Mary Sue Coleman who nixed Miles, not Martin:

With enough outpour, even MSCs job isnt safe. If folks down here luv their Tigers, what is to make you think we luv our Woverines any less? Hah pun

We have smoldered for a few yrs watching our team be spanked in OSU/bowls...this was a fire waiting to happen, and is now ablaze since App St/hiring fiasco.

I dont see any way of em getting out of without giving the fans a legitimate coach. Starting with Les, and working up the pay scale from there if that boat sunk. Had to throw that Martin reference in :P

Latest name I heard earlier this evening on Sporting News Radio is that Michigan may be talking to Sarkisian out in California.

You really thing that UM will get Les to leave L.S.U? You got to be stupid, stoned or both. The only way there going to get Les to leave now is if they start ring bells to raise money like the Salvation Army so they can offer him a good contract and pay the 4 million dollar's to L.S.U to drag him away. I don't think he is going anywhere after the they put on the frickeyes.
