So how do you reconcile his marginal record with your criteria?

Loyalties be damned I'll take 6+ mil and live in Cali over cleaning up someone else's mess in Ann arbor Michigan
With the cost of living in SF that $6M is no where near double what he'd make at UM in real dollars.

Agree with the idea that he may not get another shot at UM and that although there's risk, there's also a lot of room for immediate improvement.

Regarding Les, I get as as anyone else watching our offensive play, but am concerned that the timing may jeapordize the incoming class. Would much prefer a stellar OC hire at this point.

i know we could do way better than tubby

I'd think we could do better than Tubberville, but I get the feeling this is the type of hire this athletic department would make.

My top choice would be Miles with a new OC. My second choice (after coming to the realization that Harbaigh, Gruden, Saban aren't possible) would be Patterson at TCU.

Pete Caroll wasn't good in the NFL either and turned out well in college.

But then again you could still have the Charlie Weis' and the Bill Callahans of the world.

wasn't the right time. His second go around he has done pretty well in a year.

7-9 and made the playoffs because he's in the worst division in NFL history. Yep super successful this go around.

If I'm understanding correctly and you're talking about PC, timing is the only thing he had going this year along with a little motivation from a first year coaching change which is typical.

he's only been there a year.
what more can you expect?
I see nothing but great things as long as they continue to draft well.

what I mean by timing is in his career and he has learnt from his earlier experiences as a HC.

My point is why all the love for Gruden and Del Rio? Neither has exactly set records for wins. Why not someone with a better resume?
