Miles made and my answer is NO because Stud and Crowton are not gone and will not be gone.
I respect your opinions, but a lot goes on behind the scenes too with coaching changes. I like Crowton....he has always been successful, hasn't he, and he is with the talent everyday. There is much more to it than play calling and even when plays aren't successful, they could have worked out great (without the backside sack to move out of FG range, they may have won). Crowton manned-up, said he was always working to get beter and ironically, they were in a similar position again and the result was better.

Crowton is garbage. Expecting him to do a 180 next year is naive. He's gotten progressively worse in his tenures at just ab every stop he's made.

I hear you, and if I am wrong I will eat crow but I just do not feel like either of them will be fired or let go or given a soft landing or whatever it is Miles does. Truth is that Crowton has not always been successful and it has been broken down on this board several times (his 3rd year at places). Not only that, but some of the playcalling this year was just mind boggling and the no huddle, get set at the line, then check with me shite was a disaster. The Ole-Miss debacle should never have been a passing play anyways but I dont want to get into that. Crowton and Miles made last year worse than it had to be and they cost us atleast 1 game this year. I have no confidence in Crowton or Miles but since Miles isn't going anywhere Crowton needs too. Judging by this site and other across the internet, I feel that atleast 60% of the fanbase agrees with me on this. Crowton must go.

So where is everyone who said no one would come coach under Miles because he is a lame duck coach?

No, not really.
2001 BYU - 618 Points scored in 14 games. Crowton's 1st year.
2002 BYU - 272 Points scored in 12 games. Crowton's 2nd year.
2003 BYU - 196 Points scored in 12 games. Crowton's 3rd year.
2004 BYU - 267 Points scored in 11 games. Crowton's 4th year.
--------
2005 BYU - 396 Points scored in 12 games. 1st year w/o Crowton.
2006 BYU - 478 Points scored in 13 games. 2nd year w/o Crowton.
2005 Oregon - 414 Points scored in 12 games. Crowton's 1st year.
2006 Oregon - 383 Points scored in 13 games. Crowton's 2nd year.
-----------
2007 Oregon - 496 Points scored in 13 games. 1st year w/o Crowton.
2008 Oregon - 545 Points scored in 13 games. 2nd year w/o Crowton.
2007 LSU - 541 Points scored in 14 games. Crowton's 1st year.
2008 LSU - 402 Points scored in 13 games. Crowton's 2nd year.
2009 LSU - 306 Points scored in 12 games. Crowton's 3rd year.
--------
History. 1st year great. 2nd and subsequent years worse. After he is fired, the offense gets much better.
Both Oregon and BYU were better served getting rid of him.

When Miles adds this coach, I'll be impressed.

I think those of you calling out the Miles Bashers had better sit back and wait awhile instead of making yourselves look dumber by the day. Nothing has started in the process to get rid of Crowton and Stud. In fact signs are pointing towards them staying for at least another season. So if that is fact tell me how impressive Miles is then.

He's hiring some of the best available. Give him credit for that at least. IF they don't work out, then that is another issue all together. But at least he isn't hiring people that no one has never heard of or someone from a high school somewhere.

Earnhardt Jr is on an impressive team now and he can't do shite right. So this team doesn't mean anything until Les utilizes it. We can't start partying yet until we see some positive results. This offensive line has got to show improvement next year or all of the changes are pointless.

He will still overrule his offensive coaches when he comes down with a case of the 'tards.

hope he can get the best staff around him to make up for what he lacks as a HC. He's proven you can win big if you have a great staff and recruit lights out.

quote:So much for "great" coaching decisions, Les. This one is right up there with DiNardo keeping Tepper. Or it may be.
If Crowton and Stud aren't let go then the whole off season was complete... waste. I mean we got rid of our best offensive coaches and kept the worst?

I'll be impressed when a new OL and OC are in place
Posted on 12/12/09 at 11:23 am to lsutigerfan1976
Is this staff that impressive? Honestly?
I like the Wilson hire for several reasons. The Gonzales one doesn't really make sense to me given he's making a lateral move, but still a good hire. In both cases his hand was forced because of Porter leaving, and McCarthy being a dumbass.
As for an impressive staff, he has yet to actually adress where our team has ISSUES! Crowton still remains as OC which is a huge liability. He's also remaining as a QB coach which is an even huger liability. Studs is still on the staff and has yet to be replaced, and he may be the biggest drain on the team period.
So, I am not impressed with this staff at all, because we retooled where he had strengths, and kept our glaring weaknesses, so please hold off on celebrating just yet.

Everyone here assumes that crowton and stud are staying, I say let us see what happens after the bowl game. Miles has always been coy with his staff. It would not surprise me if changes were set to take place then. Of course IF changes were made after the bowl game, I do understand we would still need to wait to see how this translates on the field.

We are still here! Takes more than a WR and RB coach to make up for LSU's lame duck coach.
Posted on 12/13/09 at 8:25 pm to LSUMafia
LSUMafia you hit the nail on the head. The new coaches seem to be great hires but the areas of weakness has the same coaches in place. If you don't like the results, then change the way you are doing things. The O-Line and play calling issues haven't been addressed because the problem area coaches still remain in those areas.
