Wut. He did a great job with San Jose, and has Colorado looking good this year. But how is that (>>>) better than the guy who's 20-3 at Houston, who was mediocre before he got there?
It does have some merit to say that tbh.
San Jose State and Colorado were actual dumpster fires before he took over in both jobs. Houston's at least been good recently. Colorado's administration went out of its way to sabotage the program for the last 15 years

I like MacIntyre. I started created a Topic on him earlier:
I'm not sure I would pick him over Dan Mullen though.
Dan developed Dak Prescott, Tim Tebow, and Alex Smith. Dan was OC for Florida when they were NC contenders. Dan Mullen had MISS STATE ranked #1!! in 2014 for 6 weeks!! Think about that for a second. Dan Mullen has SEC experience. Dan Mullen's record ATS at Miss State is 51-46 overall and 31-24 as a favorite (I prefer a HC with a positive ATS record;
Mike MacIntry does have 3 losing seasons out of 4 BUT is 9-5-1 ATS as favorite and 17-14 as underdog. Very good ATS record. Again, I like him. Turning multiple programs around is not easy. Not a "West Coast" guy.
(Just to explain if it wasn't apparent: records ATS are a good objective measure of a coach because it lets you compare someone at a place like LSU with someone at a place like Iowa State. So, a coach with a positive ATS record is an indication that the coach can win almost anywhere. Dan Mullen has a positive ATS record at a traditional SEC cellar dwellar and has done it over 7 years-- it's not a fluke)

It concerns me that he didn't get an interview at Florida but I think he would be a nice backup option. He would fit in as a successful P5 coach on my list

That's Florida's fault IMO. I really think Mullen is an obvious choice to have near the top of our list.
FWIW I like MacIntyre too.

Um, no. Houston was coming off an 8-5 season before Herman got there and they were only a few years removed from a 12-1 season from Sumlin.
What MacIntyre has done at Colorado is outstanding. The administration there doesn't care one bit about football and could care less if it even existed.
Herman is a great coach and I wouldn't mind having him, but he's got nothing on MacIntyre when it comes to program building.

I didn't know much about him until I started digging through stats. The film only backs up what the stats say. I think he'll be a hot commodity

Hey you said from the beginning when Miles was fired that Jimbo was the man.
You don't think this is the case anymore?

This is a one coach search, guys. Alleva's backup plan is another Brinks truck in Jimbo's driveway. There's no need to keep bringing up these wildcard coaches and all of this nonsense. There's only one coach Alleva and the committee wants and it's Fisher. They're going to Tallahassee towards the end of the season and they're not getting back on that plane without Jimbo being the HC.

No I don't. It was apparent last year that Jimbo was the goal for Alleva and it seemed that way from the start but with everything coming to this it's really hard to tell.
Alleva didn't have much time to evaluate coaches last year and I'm guessing that's why he was all in on Fisher. That's why I called that early. Now I'm not too sure. It's been a long time with no smoke. Either Alleva has a guy locked up and it's already over or there's an extensive search going on right now.

Yeah I cannot get over that there really are no credible leaks going on. I am hoping that Alleva has his man lined up or at least has narrowed it down to a couple people. I am also hoping it will be either Jimbo or Herman.

I got laughed at by a Kentucky fan when i suggested they should hire him

Posted on 11/7/16 at 4:51 pm to rmnldr
quote:Because he's not the flashy kind of hire your fanbase is wanting.
Why
He's a coach who would tear the team down to rebuild it the way he thinks it should be.
Are you willing to wait 2-3 years to get a program that will be solid top to bottom with its own identity. Not trying to borrow one from Saban?
I don't think so.

I'm sure every LSU fan would be willing to wait for long term success.
