I've been more anti-Miles than anyone I know, but I just have an uneasy feeling about him leaving now with this class coming in.

If we can get a new staff (With FW) and keep the class, then I'm ALL frickING IN.

Is this realistic? I know LSU wouldn't let Frank get away...at least they better not or shite might get real up in here up in here

Okay, I wasn't ready to put that out there yet... Reply sorry. Here's the thing - folks who have spoken to folks close to this said long ago that IF Rich didn't work out, the next guy was going to have to be a return to the roots type of guy. Hoke would qualify - the backlash would seemingly be tremendous and he wouldn't sell tickets. Les Miles has mended fences with some of the folks in Ann Arbor who didn't want him here last time. That's a fact. We know how badly he wanted the job before, and we believe that's still the case. He's a bigger name who has done it at the highest level. More later. CB

Jim Harbaugh . . .

quote:

CB: For those Reply clammering for JH, is there any reason to believe we have any shot at this point?

quote:

Re: CB: For those Reply Maybe a slight glimmer of hope until he signs. We should know more on that front soon. CB

I think Brandon mentioned that ship has sailed. Reply I wouldn't hold out hope that Harbaugh will leave NFL money on the table.

He didn't. But there's not much hope, no. CB

Les Miles at UM for 10 plus years?

quote:

If the new coach turns out to be LM, how many years do we see him coaching? Reply 58 doesn't mean he has one foot in the grave, but I wonder how long his tenure would be. Granted, LC was 49 when he was named interim HC, and 13 years by today's standard is a long time. thoughts?

quote:

Probably about that. CB

Les Miles has the want to be a Michigan head coach. Come on Wolverines, give him the job.

depends on who it is...I think Tuberville would keep Frank but I'm not sure about Terry Bowden or Watson Brown...

On Jim Harbaugh and the NFL

quote:

Stephen Ross is in California... Reply with his general manager. They touched down at 11:21 last night. He is trying to secure a deal for Miami. The 49ers thought they had a deal with Harbaugh before Harbaugh said he wanted to at least listen to Miami. CB

On John Harbaugh

quote:

Chris B - can you really... Reply say that John Harbaugh is a legitimate candidate? I understand that he has an interest, but that seems quite far-fetched to me...is it stronger than just a passing interest?

quote:

He said it was. At one point we took him off the list because of his team's success and potential Super Bowl run. The timing of this now puts him back on as at least a possibility. CB

On Michigan football in general

quote:

CB: Questions for you on any hire Reply TIA! 1) Do you think they now understand the value and importance of really good assistant coaches and will pay accordingly? 2) Do you think they will revamp recruiting per some of Jim S's comments? Is that another item in the cards? Thanks!

quote:

I do. Brandon's comments yesterday were very reassuring. This is a critical hire to the future of Michigan football, which is why (IMO) not landing Harbaugh is/would be a huge blow. And I don't know what you mean by revamping recruiting. If that means starting in-state and branching out - the old philosophy - absolutely. CB

Contacting Jim Harbaugh
quote:

CB: Question... Reply Do you expect anything comes out today in regards to a potential candidate(s) being contacted?

quote:

I expect definitive word on Harbaugh: at least that's the plan. And again, not holding out much hope. CB

That brings us up to date

I am impressed with their coverage today

Contrary to what's been reported, he wanted the job last time it was open (badly) but didn't get a sniff. He's mended fences with some of the people who helped keep him out of Ann Arbor the last time around.

Hmm, indeed. This seems to conflict somewhat with the Guilbeau article which says Michigan asked and got permission to talk to Miles the last time - as long as it was after the SEC Champ. game. LINK. Then of course LSU threw a ton of money at him.
