Wish this would just all end. But it won't till Michigan hires someone.

Yeah, I think it just might have been a little better if Miles himself would have issued that.

So do you really think that a statement from Miles would change the speculation. Do the words spoken by Nick Saban "I will not be the coach at Alabama" mean anything to you?

But Miles, who is preparing his No. 2 Tigers for the Jan. 7 national title game against Ohio State, could conceivably decide otherwise. If Michigan were to hire Miles, the LSU coach would have to pay a $1.25 million buyout, as stipulated by his contract.

I will just keep reposting this until this topic finally dies out:
quote:

you guys understand that Miles has to pay the buyout right? the new school doesnt pay it, the coach does. So if Miles left, he is on the hook for $1.25mm and if a booster group raised the buyout and gave the money Miles to pay it then Miles has to pay taxes on it.

So in effect he would be on the hook for approximately $2mm to get out of his LSU contract.

remember Vandy sued Dinardo for his buyout and they went to court where Dinardo was forced to settle with Vandy

Saban and Miles are two different people. Alabama is not his alma mater, he has not waxed poetically about what it means to him. I'm pretty sure Saban didn't play for the Bear, work for the Bear, or idolize the Bear.

If Michigan makes an 'all out' press and pulls the stops, things will get interesting.

If he said "I am removing my name from the Michigan coaching job" that would end all speculation. Maybe someone can enlighten me on why that appears so hard for Miles to say.

Jim Carty on WTKA re: Latest on search at UM Audio.

Carty suggests there are things happening behind the scenes. Little long but he does discuss the Miles issue throughout.

So, what happened to the new deal they agreed on the Friday before the SEC title game?

There are so many stories and theories, etc. about what happened over that weekend that my brain is all fricked up.

Probably because he still wants to go there.

Yes Les is staying. THere was talk about how they were going to make another jab at Les last week. Then what happen. They tried to get the Rutgers Coach.

Its in the bag I think. THe problem is this. Les Miles does not have the time nor would it be smart to respond to every report that Michigan is going to try to get Miles. That just puts the issue on TV more and hurts recruiting etc.

I'm not so sure, bayourant. Miles Maniacs need to pull together for emotional support and prayer until this comes to an end.

Rocket I really don't know what to think but I think all the silence here in Ann Arbor means something. I just don't want to get too excited about this.

You are more optimistic than I about what a Miles' statement would accomplish. The media will continue to stir the pot and want a statement from Miles at least once per day.

We need to start the <iles Maniac Prayer circle again

I am not too worried. This is the same Michigan media that large parts of it kept saying Les Used Michigan to get a raise last week. They had not even looked at the contract.

IF you look at what Miles told his player
His Pre SEC game Post conference
His post SEC game conference
His remarks at the Board of Supervisers meeting
His remarks outside in the parking lot after the Board meeting

I mean what else can he do

I think the silence is the same reason we are hearing silence in Arkansas right now. All this has been too public for all involved in these searches and is making people look bad. THerefore I would expect that perhaps Arkansas and Michigan is putting a tighter lid on the search because the media was eating both of those schools alive.

I dont think that means Les is going there

Most definitely.

Miles Maniacs are a tough crowd. We have thick skin and we make things happen.

There is just something about his comments that have not completely closed the door on this thing.
