Don’t know/care about what fanbase wants at OC. I just don’t think it would be Tom Herman because there’s no strong connection between him and BK in their past.

And the one thing that has come out regarding who BK will hire for OC - is that it will be someone capable of running his (BK’s) system. For that to be possible, it strongly implies the two coaches have worked together in the past (or at least have some type of strong connection through past working relationships).

Couple this with the success in Denbrock is having at Cincinnati and the fact that the OC hire has been postponed a month into BK’s regime (suggesting the OC hire is still coaching), end it all points to Mike Denbrock, IMO.

The two (2) worked together at Notre Dame for 3-4 years.

Oh I think it will be Denbrock too. Just the "no one wants him" is a strange comment.

I really don’t think Herman’s ego would allow him to come here as OC after the drama with him as possible HC. He knows he played us, so I can see it being weird.

I’m still so confused as to how he “played us”.

He had a job offer and came back with a competing job offer.

It’s not his fault that Joe Alleva was an egomaniacal piece of shite who got his feelings hurt.

He is working for the Chicago Bears as an "analyst". He comes to LSU next year and has a top offense. He will be a top candidate for head coaching jobs again. Herman's ego is he wants to be a head coach again for a top program.

The fact that he was pretty terrible as a playcaller and guiding force behind the offense at Texas is concerning. He was so poor in this role that he was basically forced to bring in an OC who would call plays and have more control for his last season.

It is true that plenty of head coaches have struggled and been fired, but then been fine, even great, when they return to a coordinator role. It is certainly possible this would be the case with Herman. I think he’s worth consideration because of this. I understand that it is very different running or taking an active hand in one side of the ball as a head coach and being an OC or DC. He could come here and absolutely kill it.

That said, Herman’s struggles and inability to correct them at UT should still raise eyebrows. He also didn’t run a disciplined program there. That isn’t the end of the world when you are just a coordinator, but it seems like that style wouldn’t mesh as well with a guy like Kelly.
