potentially it could be an upgrade. as of today, no. much work needs to be done down there to restore their former glory, get butts in the stands and revenue for infrastructural improvements.
in say 3 years, it could be a better job.
I'll say that I don't really see Smart as an upgrade over Richt per se, but if he gets Kiffin and Boom plus Cochran, the overall staff looks better there.

I don't trust 'sources' and I don't trust stories that only have one report.
This would be a good hire for Miami, and the best hire of the season thus far, but I think this is just a rumor, for the moment.
*ETA - And then I did a google search. CBS Sports corroborates the Richt-Miami story.
