What's the general consensus on him here? I think if we got Jimbo or Kelly to come in, Applewhite would make a killer OC for either coach.

Couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag. Street ball and being able to relate to the brothers doesn't help when you're going against a real coach.

He's a creep. Was going around his pregnant wife to get with student trainers at Texas. Nothing about him stands out IMO.

Saban wanted to fire him after 4 games. That was several years ago though.

I'll never understand people's fixation with him versus Chris Simms. Simms had superior talent and I thought he did well. Applewhite was turnover prone (one Austin newspaper headline read "Apple Turnover" after he fumbled like six times) and a gimpy sitting duck in the pocket.
