It's the pre-melt. Kinda like marinading a steak. This one will be delicious when it arrives.

It is the Bama fans who are melting hard at this point.
As for me, I am simply floating theories. If it doesn't happen, I'm totally fine.
I heard that Saban agreed to the extension last night and I just shrugged. No reaction at all.
If he stays at Alabama, I will sleep well.

THIS JUST END...MACK STAYED TO PROTECT TEXAS FROM A CHEATER. NO ALUMNI PAYING PLAYERS AT TEXAS.

I don't know what happened, but I would not be surprised if Mack dug in to keep Saban from coming here.
That's been my line of thinking since hearing the news. But now that I've calmed down I've opened up to another possibility....
Maybe instead of an attempt to keep Saban out, it was a move by Mack and Powers to keep a coach LIKE Saban (SEC cheater) out while wresting power from the big donors (who were trying to bring in Saban on their own) and place the power back in the hands of Belmont, where it should be. At the same time they still intend to end up with a great coach, but one who also plays by Texas rules (no paying players, no over-signing, gray-shirtting, etc.). In the end we end up with a clear message sent to all donors that the Belmont calls the shots and that we still intent to maintain the long-standing integrity of our program.
I don't know if either is true, but I might end up leaning towards scenario #2 so I'll be able to sleep better and night. It makes it look like Powers and Mack have integrity and were fighting for the soul of the program, and that Patterson (who I started a thread about calling him a bitch who pees sitting down) and Belmont knew what they were doing all along. It kind of makes Texas athletics look good. Also, there's still an incredible list of candidates out there.
Not like Bama is a cheating Mfer the (Prior Investigations and the Fluker incident show that), but Texas doesn't pay players. SINCE WHEN.....

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - University of Alabama Director of Athletics Bill Battle is pleased to announce that head football coach Nick Saban and the University have concluded a new long-term agreement.
"We are very pleased to have this agreement completed," said Saban. "Terry and our family are very happy in Tuscaloosa. It has become home to us. This agreement allows us to continue to build on the tremendous success that we have enjoyed to this point - successes that have transcended the football field. We are excited about the future and the University of Alabama is where I plan to end my coaching career.
"We are committed to continuing the work that we have been doing in the community as well as at the University. We are also excited about the opportunity awaiting us on Jan. 2 in the Allstate Sugar Bowl against the University of Oklahoma and hope to send this year's tremendous senior class out in the proper way."

Yeah, me too.
This has been fun.
At the end of the day, Saban likely stays at Alabama.

1. he never said he signed anything. just "agreed"
2. doesn't matter if he signed the extension or not, he could leave at any time no strings attached
