I could care less about years past. Maybe he perfected his system, who knows??? This year he was a Broyles finalist and took an offense with middling talent and hung 45 on a playoff team(Clemson) and the #5 ranked team in the country(Penn State). His team averaged 42 points. If you go watch any film at all, he keeps defenses on their heels all game long. He turned Jacoby freaking Brissett into an NFL quarterback.

Maybe it had something to do with inheriting an offense with 8 returning starters, including a senior quarterback.
You cite his team's ability to score points, which is something he has struggled with historically.
His scoring offenses prior to this year -
2012 - 59th
2013 - 99th
2014 - 57th
2015 - 42nd

I think it is pretty safe to say that he did not have the personnel at NC State that he had this year or will have here. Those teams had some pretty awful defenses, as well. This guy has gotten the most out his teams and has put up some stats.

Mett's best year (2013) was 3082 yds 22, TDs and 8 INTs with OBJ and Landry over 13 games.
Pitt this year has 2602 yds, 26 TDs and 6 INTs in 12 games

Look at where he was at brother. He did well with what he had. And I say this from an objective standpoint. I was highly against Coach O, and wanted ANY head coach out there with a string offensive background and winning record
