LSU Got Played

For the past 3 weeks, we were led to believe that O was a part of this staff. We also thought that Walker was coming. Walker goes to NMST. and we end up with Chavis. We are fine with it because O is coming. Who knows? Maybe Chavis was the first choice after all. Nevertheless, Orgeron was the constant. Then, at the last minute, he goes to Tennessee? Would we have taken Chavis if we knew that Orgeron was not coming?
Man, this reminds me of Saban. These guys are all alike and I am personally getting sick of it. I used to be a big NBA fan until the thuggery hit in the 90's. I am starting to feel the same way about college football. I don't mind paying more money, but it is the back and forth nature of all this that makes me want to ignore the whole thing.
Anyway, we got played.

Who led you to believe this? The LSU athletic department or an unaffiliated message board?

It might not be, but it sure appears that way.

More like Tennessee got played for more money. We didn't get played for anything. We lose nothing. We go after the next guy. Our recruiting is fine. We simply need a DL coach with "fire".

I will believe it when I see him in orange and if that's the case then Les needs to get another damn strong DL coach!!

As far as I can tell, none of these guys have said anything to string us along. It's everyone's faith in the media (including my own) that makes us think everyone's being fricked over.

We didn't get played at all. No one worth a shite believed 100% that Walker was coming, that was all pure speculation. LSU fans, including me, were way too hard on the prospects of hiring Chavis, but most people have come to realize it was a solid hire.
LSU didn't really lose that much. I would have liked Orgeron on the staff because of what he did at USC, but we already have great recruiting and we can still get a solid DL coach.

This is the game. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Move on and keep trying to do better.
Our next guy could be coming from the pros...and it's someone other than Haley.

we will get a good d-line coach. We will continue to recruit well. UT fans will expect immediate success and may not get it.

It's really Tenn. loss because now, every new coach will look at O's salary as a starting point for negotiations and that is not a pretty number if you are the employer. They need a bigger recruiter than us. So I hope it works out for them.

If they need a bigger recruiter (and they do), then why is it their loss? Sounds like it's a pretty big win for them, no matter that the salary's fairly outrageous.

If we were willing to pony up for O i think we should pony to bring dunbar back. My guess is robinson stays to coach d ends, Chavis brings his d tackle coach, and we get a new secondary coach. Chavis will coach linebackers

the man from Philly may be back and I can personally tell you there is no way O is any more intense because it is impossible for anyone to be more intense.

It will be a loss in the future b/c every coach that comes in will want to be paid relative to what coach O is getting. I was just talking about the future.

Feels very similar to the McKnight recruiting process of which Orgeron was heavily involved in. I think O played LSU.

I'm not saying that the world is going to end if we don't get Orgeron. The only problem is that we've now got two guys competing against us (Saban and Orgeron) at good programs who won't leave Louisiana alone.
At any rate, I have to believe that Orgeron was letting LSU know he was headed our way. Now we're on to plan B.

Let's just see if this becomes official. Something tells me that there could be another offer.

Based on what was being reported, seemed he wanted to come to LSU. If he did play us, then it'll be war when we play Tenn.

Too many people portray this as being a personal issue, saying frick O, Bobby(just for reporting it), and Sexton(for getting the best deal for his client). It's not personal, just business. I would have loved to have gotten him as much as the next guy, but LSU will be fine without him. He's just doing what he thinks is best for his family and their future. He doesn't owe anything LSU, so people need to stop acting like he betrayed them. Congrats to TN, and good luck to O. I have all the confidence that Miles will bring in the proper personnel to keep this program the powerhouse it has become.
